Comment on Important changes to adding work, chapter, and series co-creators

  1. It happened to me when an abusive ex friend of mine and i had a final falling out - they deleted everything off here and off our Google doc and I couldn't recover it. 30k words.

      1. Yeah, it was Awful. Which is why in part I'm hoping we can get an option to remove someone from a work, because I have no way of removing them from the series that was so that they can't edit it anymore - and while it's been a while since all that happened, I'm still paranoid.

Thankfully my new cowriter is a wonderful person, my best friend, and would never threaten legal action to me over me posting our fic with credit...

Save yourself a downloaded copy, if it gets deleted you can just reupload it. Doesn’t completely solve the problem because the feedback will be gone and links to it broken, but at least it wouldn’t be gone forever.

        2. I don't think that would be possible because a co creator has equal ownership, no matter who wrote/posted more. I'm glad your cowriter is awesome and nothing terrible has happened to you!

    2. Omg that’s horrible. I’m really sorry you lost your work. I hope your ex friend gets her just deserts.

Im so sorry. Same thing happened to me. Hundreds of thousands of words.

Have you tried checking if the Wayback machine had archived your work at any point?

    4. If the Google doc isn't deleted, you can restore previous versions by clicking on the "last edited _____ days ago" link at the top of the document next to the drop down menu. Really hope you can salvage your writing.
