About Of Elves and Men (OfElvesandMen)

Active since:

This collection contains works originally located at http://www.ofelvesandmen.com/, which were imported to the Archive of Our Own through the Open Doors Project. As activity on the site has dwindled, the moderator feels Of Elves and Men will be best preserved by moving it to AO3. You can learn more about the import in the import announcement.

In 2002, a small Yahoo Group began as an answer to the fanwars in LOTR over Real Person versus Fictional Character and Slash versus Het fiction. LOTR Adult Fiction was friendly to all of these. We provided a place where all writers in the fandom were free to express themselves without being condemned by others. It was a success and soon a Slash only group was added - Of Elves and Men Slash as well as a website, Of Elves and Men. We added a Silmarillion group a few years later. We also opened a LJ community called OEAM as well.

A few years ago, we added several new fandoms to our stable and since have added even more.

Welcome to OEAM.

If you still have access to the email you used to post your works to Of Elves and Men, you should have received an email with the option to claim your works at the time they were imported. If you do not have access to that email account, or did not receive the notification, please contact the moderator at the contact email address listed above.

All unclaimed works are imported as restricted to logged-in AO3 users only, and [will be/were] made publicly viewable after a 30-day transition period. If you claimed your works before that period ended, you will need to change the restriction setting.

[Original archive rules. Some details may no longer be accurate and links may no longer work]

OEAM is a fiction archive that primarily serves the Tolkien fandom though over the years, we have added several others listed under categories.

Common courtesy is a must. Hate speech, flaming, underage pornography, and plagiarism are not allowed. We are a registered by Safe Surf as an adult site thus stories with a rating of R and above can only be read by registered members. By registering for membership, you are asserting that you have read, understand and will abide by these simple rules and that you are 18 years of age or older.

The site is owned and maintained by Alexcat (with a lot of help from her friends). It has been serving fandom since 2004.

There is no profit made on any of these stories nor on this site. There are also no claims made that any actions depicted in these stories are true. They are simply parody and no harm is intended.

The administrators are not editors, this we are not responsible for typos, incorrect punctuation, or anything similar within the stories, so proofreading and beta reading are important.

1. You must be a registered member of OEAM to post. You may also join and post to the Yahoo Groups and the Livejournal OEAM Community.
2. All stories should be grammar and spell checked before being submitted to the archive. Unreadable stories will be returned for the author to correct and re-submit.
3. It is not mandatory, but it is advised that authors have a beta reader, someone who can help them correct errors in grammar, content, etc. Check out the Beta Listing and Tips page if you need to find a beta or find out what a beta does.
4. No story may contain underage persons real or fictional in a sexual situation. Underage may be interpreted by poster's country of origin.
5. The website administrator and archivist reserve the right to reject or remove any fiction at our discretion.
