The Bro Bone Bang is an SPN fandom event which welcomes all creations for all ships, as long as the ship is comprised of Sam and Dean Winchester (or iterations thereof) and as long as the creation features them boning throughout.

The BBB operates prompt memes in three-monthly cycles: please check the rules for the current prompt collection to see the format in which we are currently accepting prompts. Fills can be art, fic, or a collaboration/combo including both. The BBB welcomes all interested participants, whether you're here to leave a deposit, fill a void, or just to gaze on the activity of others: come on in!

HOW LONG WILL THE BONING LAST?
The Bro Bone Bang will be going at it on AO3 indefinitely but pounding away eternally in the same position isn’t satisfying for anybody. Rounds will be open for 3 months each, after which prompts will close and a new round will open up with a different type of prompt.

ISN’T BANGING SOMETHING ARTISTS AND WRITERS DO TOGETHER?
Honestly yes a bang is supposed to match up artists and writers and this is more of a freeform prompt meme but the Bro Bone Prompt Meme just isn’t that catchy a title. As the gentle reader can doubtless imagine, it is important to us that we remain within the bounds of strict propriety and we therefore encourage double-teaming (get together with another artist or writer to fill a prompt together) or Cupid-sponsored bonding after the fact (write a fic or draw a picture to complement someone else’s completed submission). But never let the lack of a partner hold you back! A solo sesh can be a lot of fun and we at the Bro Bone Bang have no wish to deny you (or ourselves) that pleasure.

IS MY BONE BIG ENOUGH?
We ask that fics are at least 500 words. As in life, the maximum length of your bone is determined only by stamina or biological possibility. We don’t have any limits on art but if you would like us to link to the piece on the BBB Tumblr then you may wish to provide a judiciously cropped version of the image that is SFW (boooo).

ROUND 3 of the SPN Bro Bone Bang will run from DECECEMBER 2022 - MARCH 2023

PROMPTS
For this round we will be accepting prompts in the form of: A SONG. You should just give the title of the song and the name of the artist.

Fills can use the prompts in any way that they see fit: perhaps the song just sets the mood for the fanwork, perhaps you use the title of or lyrics from the song for the title of the fanwork, perhaps you try and match up the setting or emotional through-line of the song to the fanwork. If the connection is less obvious you might want to use your author's note to explain how you got from A to B!

FILLS

Fic fills should be 500 words minimum. Art-wise we'll leave it to your discretion. If you want to team up with someone else please do; if you want to create a complementary fic to an existing art fill or art for an existing fic fill, please do.

Please remember this is the Bro Bone Challenge and your bros must be BONING THROUGHOUT! If you want to build in plot you must do it through the medium of (you guessed it) BONING! If you manage to write a case fic in this medium we will eternally respect you! But maybe you just want to write some sweaty men! That's all gravy! We love you!! (This stipulation has occasionally caused some concern; realistically, we do accept a few paras of non-boning setup if you want to include them but the closer you're able to get to 100% boning, the more imaginary Bro Bone points you score.)
