The Annual Pacific Rim Secret Santa exchange!
(Closed, Unmoderated, Gift Exchange Challenge)
About Pacific Rim Secret Santa 2015 (PR_SecretSanta_2015)
Welcome to the Pacific Rim Secret Santa exchange - seasonal gifts for Pacific Rim fans!
What's a Secret Santa?
It's a seasonal fic exchange where you receive a fic written for you around general specifications you give, and you write a fic for someone else around general specifications they give. Your story is submitted by the due date, and when everyone has a story, the archive collection is opened with all the authors anonymised for everyone to read, kudos, play around in, and generally enjoy. A week after the archive collection is opened, the authors are revealed.
Dates for The 2015 Pacific Rim Secret Santa
Sign-ups: Monday 26th October - Saturday 31st October
Assignments out: 2nd November
Gifts due: 20th December
Gifts live: 24th December
Author reveal: 31st December
1. Make at least three request of characters/pairings you want to receive.
2. Make at least three offers of characters/pairings you're willing to write.
3. Write a story of at least 1000 words about those characters/pairings.
Will I have to write something I don't want to?
No. Your request will be matched with someone who has offered to write at least one character that you have specified, and you will be assigned the request of someone who has asked for a character that you have indicated you can write.
That said, you might get someone who likes pairings you don't; in which case, you don't have to write their pairings (although if you can, it's appreciated), but you still have the write the characters they've asked for. The pairings are optional, not required.
What if I can't finish my story?
This is known as 'defaulting' and there's a little button next to your sign-up option that allows you to default. If you do so before the deadline for the fic, then you get to walk away, no consequences. However, if you default and the person writing for you also defaults, you won't be assigned a pinch-hit.
If you default after the deadline, then you'll be barred from participating the next time this challenge rolls around. Or anything else I happen to run in the next year.
You may make between 2-4 requests. (This is what you would like to receive.) Each request must have at least two (2) and no more than four (4) characters listed. You may also list up to two (2) relationships that you would like. Your recipient does not have to write these relationships but it helps to list the ones you like so you're more likely to match with someone who likes what you like.
You must make between 3-6 offers. (This is what you are willing to give.) Each offer must have at least two (2) and no more than ten (10) characters listed. You may also list up to four relationships that you are willing to write. You will not necessarily get someone who wants these relationships, however you are not obligated to write relationships at all.
