Intro:

Merlin Holidays is an exchange fest where you give a gift and receive a gift! The fest is anonymous until all is revealed in January. The mods will give you an assignment and someone will be assign to make something for you. The assignments will go out next week and you can find it under assignments on your AO3 account or in your email inbox.

The fest posts during December, but is not strictly holiday themed. You can ask for and create gifts that have any sort of theme or genre. You can certainly ask for holiday themed gifts, but you can also request anything else.

FAQ:

1. Sign-ups will take place through AO3.

2. All participants must be at least 18 years of age.

3. If you join and request a fic or artwork, you must agree to create a fic or artwork in return. Artwork in this fest includes traditional art, graphics, gif sets, and fanvids.

4. You cannot choose the person for whom you will create fanwork. You will be assigned a recipient and will receive your challenge details in an email from AO3.

5. All fics must be at least 1,000 words. Fanvids must be at least 45 seconds long. Fanarts must be a complete piece and more than a sketch or preview (lines inked or seams blended). Gif sets must include at least 8 gifs that tie together to tell a story. All graphics should have some element of storytelling. There is no upper limit as to length or quality.

6. In order to preserve anonymity, all fanworks must be able to stand on their own and not be part of another series or a sequel/prequel to other works by the same fan.

7. All works must be cleaned up and beta-ed.

8. The moderators reserve the right to return any fanwork for revision if they feel it does not meet the recipient's request, or does not meet the quality standards (beta-ed and cleaned-up).

9. All works will be posted anonymously to the Merlin Holidays collection on AO3 by the writer/artist by the deadline. All fanworks posted to the collection will be exclusive to Merlin Holidays until the names of the creators have been revealed. Please do not post them elsewhere on the Internet until that time.

10. How posting will work.
The headers for your completed fic or art must be emailed to merlinholidays@gmail.com by the due date. Requests for extensions will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Once your submission is reviewed, we will email you your posting date. Pleased do not send in a header until your work is complete and ready to be shared.
