Summary
Maybe the worst part, Jaskier muses as he stares into his tankard, is that it’s all so horribly... cliché.
The inconsequential companion – tossed aside the moment that the truly intended, cosmically wedded couple finally meet. Because what chance does he stand – what role could he ever play – that would permit Destiny to place him on the same stage – let alone in the same scene – as witchers and sorceresses?

Summary
Jaskier is used to being unwanted, not good enough to keep. Whether as a dragon who can't fly, or as a bard who doesn't know when to shut up, he's so useless that about the only thing he's good for - aside from being a burden to everyone he loves - is falling off of mountains.
He was pushed, the first time.
The second time, he'll go willingly.

Summary
It’s been...Gods, it’s been more than a year since their paths last crossed. Since Geralt emphatically un-crossed them, one could say, outside another cave high up on a windy mountain top.
And here they are, trapped like a couple of treed cats in this little hole in a cliff face. No horse, no pack, no potions, no swords. Just a rapidly dwindling handful of dried meat, a useless hunting knife, a festering bite in his side that hurts much more than it should...and Jaskier, the surest omen that everything in his life is about completely stop making sense. Again.
In which back-to-back encounters with a siren, a wyvern, and an old, old friend leave Geralt in need of a rescue. Just not the one he thought he needed.

Summary
“Look,” Jaskier says, holding his hands up in surrender as he slowly approaches the wolf. “I’m really just trying to help you. It’s the least I can do for you saving those people, but honestly, I can’t do much if you bite my hands off.”
The wolf, which stands nearly half Jaskier’s height and is bleeding heavily where the crossbow bolt is sticking out of its leg, bares its teeth and snarls.
“Oh, knock it off,” Jaskier grumbles irritably. “I’ve been growled at plenty; you don’t scare me.”Six months after Jaskier leaves Geralt on the mountain, he finds another white wolf.

“Jaskier,” Geralt breathes out, checking Jaskier’s body for injuries, relieved to find none. “Are you alright?”
Jaskier opens his mouth to respond, but -Nothing comes out.
Geralt’s heart drops. Jaskier opens his mouth again, his lips moving, but no sound comes out, and Geralt watches helplessly as Jaskier’s face fills with an indescribable fear, the putrid scent of utter panic filling the air.

Summary
Be patient with Jaskier. Gentle. It's become his mantra over the past few months, something he's reminded himself of every time he feels like he isn't doing enough, that Jaskier isn't getting better quickly enough.
———
After they've rescued Jaskier from Nilfgaard and Yennefer has healed his physical injuries, Geralt takes him to the safest place he knows—Kaer Morhen. It's a long road to recovery, for both of them.

Summary
As Geralt made his way to the tavern, he could faintly hear one or two conversations, muted not by distance, but by the late hour. The half moon had fully risen, and the only people left would be the men who didn't want to go home, and women who were afraid to. But there was one more man sitting in the back, softly playing a lute. A lute Geralt hadn't seen in a long time.
Maybe some apologies were in order.

Summary
It takes a year for Jaskier to properly lick his wounds after the mountain. When Geralt doesn’t come for him, he makes a promise to himself: he will no longer write about someone else’s life, he’ll write about his own. He hears news of a mysterious town in southern Rivia that isn’t on any Continental maps, so he embarks on a journey to investigate. However, once he gets there, he’s embroiled in something he’d never thought possible — his own Destiny, his cursed Child Surprise.
When Geralt and Jaskier cross paths again, Jaskier makes the decision to follow Geralt one last time: to the halls of Kaer Morhen, where he and his Child can be safe. The threat of a second war hangs over the Continent like a ghost, and with a dark rider hot on their trail, Jaskier can think of no safer place than beside his old muse, no matter the cost to his own heart.

Summary
Geralt finally finds his child of surprise - or rather, she finds him - but Cirilla isn't alone, beside her is a majestic lion with familiar blue eyes
[...] Months of searching and finally she was here, Cirilla, his child of surprise, alive - shivering slightly in his arms, but safe and sound.
Their moment was quickly broken when Geralt heard something and hid the girl behind him, sword pointed towards the noise.
His eyes wide, facing the second thing he heard moving around, for a moment he had forgotten that an animal was nearby and, well, it wasn't a dog... he never would have guessed what it really was.
In front of him, majestic, with a calm expression and intense blue eyes was a lion. [...]
