Jimin slumped down in his seat beside Taehyung. It had been a few days since the interrogations and Yoongi still hadn’t come to class. Jimin wished he had the courage to call him, just to see if he was alive or not. But he couldn’t. They hadn’t talked in over two years except to fight.
The door burst open five minutes after class started, making everyone jump. Yoongi stood in the doorway with wild eyes, panting. “I’m sorry I’m late!” He said to the professor before tucking his head down and walking to his desk in the back of the room.
Jimin’s eyes locked onto Yoongi’s body and didn’t leave him. Yoongi looked horrible. He had bags under his eyes and it looked like he hadn’t brushed his hair properly in a few days. His clothes were rumpled and he was slouched over in his seat with a spaced out look on his face.
As soon as class was dismissed, Jimin jumped out of his seat. Yoongi stayed seated, staring out the window like he had forgotten where he was. “Tae, go on ahead. I’ll meet up with you later.” Jimin mumbled, still not taking his eyes off of Yoongi.
Taehyung made a strange face but listened to Jimin’s orders and left the room while shaking his head. Yoongi didn’t even stir until every single person had left the room. He looked up when Jimin walked towards him, surprised to see only him left.
“You’re alive.” Jimin stated with wide eyes, fumbling with his fingers awkwardly.
Yoongi raised an eyebrow, looking tired. “I am.”
“Why didn’t you come to class for so long?” Jimin asked, trying not to pout.
“Why? Did you miss me, Jiminie?” Yoongi smirked, his old nickname for Jimin slipping out.
Jimin froze, his blood running cold in his veins. “I was worried you were dead and this is how you treat me?” His voice was deadly calm and Yoongi could already tell he messed up again.
“Why did you think I was dead?” Yoongi tilted his head, trying to look less cold but he was just so exhausted.
Jimin scoffed and sat on top of a nearby desk. “Why do you think? You stopped showing up to class! The last time someone went missing after arguing with me, they died!” He yelled, tears filling his eyes.
Yoongi’s jaw dropped. “Wait you were actually worried about me? I thought you hated me?”
Jimin ran his hands through his hair. “I could never hate you! We were friends for so long. Even more than friends at one point, Yoongi. Now, will you tell me why you stopped coming to class?”
Yoongi dropped his gaze, unable to look Jimin in the eye. “I felt bad about kissing you. I thought it’d be best to avoid you for a little while. Isn’t that what you wanted?”
Jimin groaned in frustration. “No! That isn’t what I wanted! I miss being around you, being friends with you. I’m with Hoseok so you can’t be kissing me but that doesn’t mean I want you disappearing.”
Yoongi stood up and pointed a finger at Jimin, a flash of anger in his eyes. “It’s hard to be around you without wanting to kiss you, Jimin! I’ve loved you for the same amount of time Hoseok has but you chose him! Not me! You slept with me first but you left for him! Was I not good enough? Could I not give you the same things he could? Why? Why did you choose him?” Yoongi was close to tears but he wouldn’t let them fall.
Jimin, however, was openly crying. “I don’t know! I had feelings for both of you! I really don’t know why I chose Hoseok! I’m so sorry, Yoongi. I never wanted to hurt you.”
Yoongi dropped his head to stare at the floor. He watched as the first tear slipped off the end of his nose and landed on the ground. “That’s all you’ve done. Hurt me. Ever since I laid eyes on you.”
Jimin stayed silent, staring at Yoongi sadly.
Suddenly, Yoongi lifted his head again and took a step towards Jimin. “You said you had feelings for both of us?”
Jimin gulped. “I did.”
Another step closer. “Do you still?”
“I-I don’t know. I love Hoseok.”
Yoongi narrowed his eyes. “Not what I asked. Do you still have feelings for both of us?”
Staring into Yoongi’s dark eyes, Jimin couldn’t lie. “Yes.”
Another step. “Do we both make you feel safe?”
“Do you want Hoseok to kiss you?”
Another step. Yoongi was now an inch from Jimin’s face. “Do you want me to kiss you?”
“Yes.” Jimin said without actually thinking about the question.
Yoongi was waiting for that exact answer. As soon as he heard it, he lurched forward, wrapping a hand around Jimin’s neck. Jimin froze for a split second and then pushed his hand between their mouths before Yoongi could kiss him. “Wait! No! That’s not what I meant to say! Stop!”
Yoongi sighed and stepped back, dropping his hands to his sides. “It’s exactly what you meant to say, Jimin. That was the most honest you’ve ever been with me.” Then he quickly gathered his things and walked out the door.
Jimin kept his hand pressed against his mouth and stood there in shock, staring at the door Yoongi had just walked through.
What did I just do?
“Tae? I need you to come over. Now.”
“I’ll be there in five.”
Jimin paced around his living room. He needed to talk about what happened and Hoseok was in a class.
Taehyung ran in the front door with Jimin’s favorite chocolate in hand. He recognized that tone of voice from one sentence over the phone. Jimin needed the best comfort he could off and someone to listen.
They flopped onto the couch together and Jimin nibbled on the chocolate Taehyung offered. “Thanks for coming so quickly.”
“Of course, Chim. You know I’ve always got you.” Taehyung responded, placing a hand on Jimin’s knee.
Jimin took a deep breath. “Okay so you know how Yoongi kissed me that one time I was having a panic attack?”
“Yeah, of course.” Taehyung said, a scowl on his face.
“Well, this happened after you left today.” Jimin recounted the whole story in detail, wanting Taehyung to understand how he felt.
“You said yes?” Taehyung exclaimed, eyes wide open in surprise.
“I wasn’t thinking straight! I think I was still thinking about the previous question he asked, which was about Hoseok! And I obviously didn’t want him to kiss me! I stopped him!” Jimin’s eyebrows were furrowed, trying to figure out everything.
“Jimin, you let him get up in your face and then said yes when he asked if you wanted him to kiss you. What the fuck? Why’re you telling me this and not Hoseok? He deserves to know!” Taehyung eyed his best friend warily.
“He’s in class or I would’ve gone to him first! Obviously he deserves to know! I’m not keeping anything from him because there is nothing to keep! Nothing happened!” Jimin protested, crossing his arms.
Taehyung shook his head. “I love you but you’re stupid.”
Jimin whined loudly. “Hey, that’s my line to you!”
“But I figured my shit out. You clearly haven’t. It’s kind of messed up, what you’re doing. You keep putting yourself in a room with Yoongi alone when feelings are heightened. You’ve got to stop.” Taehyung said, frowning.
Jimin mirrored his best friend’s frown. “I’m not doing anything at all, Tae. I don’t like what you’re accusing me of!”
“I’m not accusing you of anything! I’m just saying stay away from Yoongi before something happens!” Taehyung yelled.
Jimin stood up quickly. “Nothing is gonna happen! I want Yoongi to be my friend again, is that a bad thing?”
Taehyung stood up too. “No but do you really think Yoongi can be just friends with you? Because I don’t! He’s the prime suspect in the murder of your ex-boyfriend for a reason!”
Jimin froze at the same time Taehyung did. “What? He’s the what?”
Taehyung sighed and put his head in his hands. “I talked to my cousin, she’s on the police force investigating Minhyuk’s death. She said Yoongi was their prime suspect.”
Jimin grabbed Taehyung by the front of his shirt. “Why? Why would she say that?” He yelled.
Taehyung grabbed Jimin’s wrists. “Because he was the only one alone on the night Minhyuk went missing! And he was in love you! And he had fought with Minhyuk before! As soon as Minhyuk was gone, you got with him! The proof is right in front of you! Why can’t you see that?” Taehyung screamed back.
Jimin crumpled to the floor, crying for the second time that day. “No. H-he wouldn’t. He isn’t capable of murder. Not the Yoongi I know.”
Taehyung crouched down beside him. “Come on, you aren’t blind, Chim. You just don’t want to see it. Why’s that?”
Jimin curled his hands into fists and gritted his teeth. “He is not a murderer. So you better stop right now.”
“Or what? You’ll hit me? You would actually choose someone who has bullied you for years over your best fucking friend?” Taehyung said loudly, standing up again.
Jimin wiped at his tears with his fists and started shaking with anger. “You aren’t acting like the best friend I know and love. He wouldn’t make me choose people like this.” He yelled back. He wanted to stand up and face Taehyung but he couldn’t get his legs to work properly.
Taehyung grabbed Jimin by the collar of his shirt and yanked him to his feet. “Really? Then hit me! Do it! I fucking dare you!” When Jimin didn’t move, he released him and stepped back. “That’s what I thought. Too much of a coward, huh?”
That did it. Jimin lifted his arm and punched Taehyung square in the jaw. “How’s that for a coward, you asshole!” He screamed at the top of his lungs.
Taehyung fell back onto the floor, holding his jaw, at the same time Hoseok came running in the front door. He had heard the screaming from outside. He took in the room, frozen in complete and utter shock. Jimin was standing over Taehyung, holding his fist and still crying. “What the hell is going on?”
The two froze, looking like they were about to attack each other again. Taehyung brushed himself off and stood up. “Why don’t you ask your boyfriend?” He spat, shoving past Hoseok and leaving the apartment.
Jimin stayed where he was standing, still shaking and fuming.
“Jimin. Answer me. What the fuck happened?”
