Chapter Text
Ruby Madison wastes neither time nor words.
"My cousins are moving here," she declares as they sit down, and flips her hair over her shoulder. "The usual?"
Sam and Dean Winchester glance at each other.
"Sure," Sam says slowly while Dean asks, "Your point?"
"Ruby," Alastair calls out as he plucks a Danish from the display case with a pair of tongs. "Stop saying it like it's the end of the world."
Ruby rolls her eyes at him. "Dad, they're not exactly the nicest people-"
"You haven't seen them in ten years. Don't judge them."
She heaves a sigh, then kicks back a chair and sits down at the table with the brothers. Sam and Dean share look, and then Sam leans over and says, "What is it?"
She flicks her eyes up at the ceiling. "Don't have the nicest memories of the last time I met them…their step mom, Lilith? A total bitch-"
"Ruby!"
She waves him off. "She's this crazy psycho of a religious freak. I don't know how Uncle Jimmy met her, but she's just…ugh."
Dean snorts. "Batshit crazy religious nutjobs are not my cup of coffee."
Sam kicks him under the table. "Dean!"
"What? Remember that faith healing thing you dragged me to? That was such bullshit-"
"That was for a paper and I didn't have a ride-"
"Well your professor sucked-"
"The class was on American religions-"
"Bullshit class-"
"Guys! Guys!" Ruby says. "You're in public. Stop fighting like five-year-olds. Fight like Valley Girls."
Dean flips her the bird, and then asks, "They anything like Lilith?"
"You think I'd know?" she scowls and then gets up. "What kind of pie?"
"Apple," Dean says to her receding back. "Wait, how many cousins do you have?"
