Weird things happened in Beacon Hills; it was a center for supernatural occurrences. The Hale pack had been living there for years raising their children and protecting the inhabitants of the city from anything that would seek to harm the innocent. Not all wolf packs were as noble as they were and there were so much more than werewolves out there. Things had been almost too calm lately; even the local hunters had stopped sniffing around them.
It’s part of the reason why no one was terribly shocked when they woke up not in their home but rather in a strange apartment complex. There seemed to be no exit and all hallways led to a room with a large movie theatre-esque room. The most worrying thing about all of this was that the younger members of their pack were missing.
And it seemed that they weren’t the only ones present a few of the Argents were trapped there too. They’d all convened in the theatre room each on different sides. A few other mortals were on the opposite side as well none that Talia hale recognized. Before any of them could think up a reasonable explanation or get the chance to point blame the screen in front of them lit up. Words slowly dragged across it for all to see.
‘Welcome guests, we’ve gathered a few of you here to give you the chance to change your futures and the futures of your children. We’ve deemed those in the room worthy to learn of the future events. There will be a few guests joining you, though they may not all come at once.
Also note that all weapons and werewolf claws, strength, and fangs have been temporarily taken from you in this special room. Do not worry for your missing loved ones as time outside this area has been stopped temporarily.
We wish you luck.”
There were many whispers Talia herself was in shock with raised eyebrows, the future. She wondered what had happened that could possibly make something as grand as this come into being. “I think we should all introduce ourselves”
“You want to go along with this” Chris Argent didn’t look pleased being in the room with several werewolves with or without their supernatural abilities.
“I don’t think we have much of a choice.” Talia stepped forward. “My name is Talia Hale, this is my husband Jason, my younger brother Peter, and my children; Laura, Nathanial, and Cora. I have a much bigger family but they are not present.” She smiled kindly at the strangers who seemed to be scrunching themselves in a corner.
“I’m Chris Argent and this is my wife Victoria.” His voice was gruff and to the point. They turned to the others. And Chris wondered why these mortals with no connection to the supernatural had been brought in. A woman finally stepped forward she looked utterly confused but seemed to be taking this all in stride.
“My name is Melissa McCall” She introduced herself not really understanding what was going on. The future, Werewolves, hunters; she was sure this was all just some elaborate dream. At the very least Noah was here and she wasn’t alone.
“My name’s Noah.” Talia and the others instantly recognized him as the deputy of Beacon Hills.
As soon as he’d finished his name there was a loud yell and thump everyone turned to the front to see a young grizzled man sit up looking highly irritated, but that soon changed to slight shock as he stared at the occupants of the room. His hands clenched into fists and they were shaking slightly.
Melissa McCall explained the situation to the young man who seems so very out of his depth. His mouth stayed in a firm grim line and he seemed to have a rather grumpy demeanor but there was a deep sadness in his eyes as he looked at the Hales’. “My name is Derek Hale” To say the other Hale’s were shocked would be an understatement after all the Derek they knew was still quite young, and this Derek seemed much older and his eyes spoke of the many things he’d seen and done and it made Talia want to hug her son, though she abstained it didn’t seem as though he would appreciate the gesture. In fact, he seemed to want to stay far away from them. Before any more could be said the screen once more lit up and everyone shuffled around taking seats. The Argents placed themselves away from the others and Derek sat a few seats away from his family.
He didn’t really know how to react it had been so long since he’d had a family, his family. He wasn’t sure how to act around them and then there was the reality that this was only temporary and he did not want to forget that they could vanish in the next second. It was better to keep his distance. He didn’t think he’d survive having to lose them again.
*The scene started as a bunch of police cars pulled up outside the woods dogs on leashes as they seemed to be searching for something.*
They all wondered what was happening; it seemed like quite a search party. The Argents gave a cold suspecting look toward the Hale’s Talia refused to give any sort of reaction. She liked having all the facts before she pointed fingers and directed blame.
*The scene cut to a house.*
Melissa gave a start “That’s my house.” Everyone turned to look at the now blushing woman.
*It zoomed in on a room inside the house to show a young teen fixing his lacrosse stick net, it didn’t show his face as he did a few pull ups and brushed his teeth. He finally looked into the mirror letting them see his face.*
“Is that… Oh my gosh, it is. It’s Scott, my son,” She elaborated for those who wouldn’t know him. “He’s still a kid right now, but look at him all grown up” Ever the proud mother.
*There was a noise in the background and Scott turned to look. Another sound and then it skipped forward to Scott fully dressed a baseball bat in hand as he walked out onto his porch glancing around nervously. He looked out off the porch. And then another young boy swung down hanging upside down. The two boys screamed at each other.*
A few of the others laughed and Melissa and John exchanged exasperated looks.
Derek rolled his eyes but Talia could see an almost fondness in them. Her son certainly knew these two boys and they seemed to be important.
Scott: Stiles, what the hell are you doing?!
Stiles: You weren't answering your phone. Why do you have a bat?
Scott *looks at his bat*: I thought you were a predator.
Stiles: A pre - I - wha –
Talia was smiling she liked these boys they were so utterly innocent.
look, I know it's late, but you gotta hear this. I saw my dad leave 20 minutes ago. Dispatch called. They're bringing in every officer from the Beacon Department, and even State Police.
The deputy let out a sigh “He’s still listening in on my calls.”
“Does he do that a lot?” Jason asked
Melissa smiled “Stiles hears everything, I swear that boy has a magnet for knowing things he shouldn’t”
Scott: For what?
Stiles: Two joggers found a body in the woods. *He flipped himself off his perch and landed standing up and leaning on the porch railing*
Derek flinched. Laura was right there, she was alive. But her death in his time still hit him hard. She was all he’d had left and then she was gone to and he was on his own. Being an Omega was hard to bare, wolves were pack animals it didn’t feel right to be alone and it was dangerous.
Scott: A dead body?
Stiles: No, a body of water. Yes, dumb - ass, a dead body. *He jumped up onto the porch*
“How long have these two been friends” Talia asked
“Since they were four, met in a sandbox” Derek monotoned. He noticed the looks and shrugged ears turning slightly red. “Stiles talks... a lot.” Was his only answer.
Scott: You mean like murdered?
Stiles: Nobody knows yet. Just that it was a girl, probably in her 20s.
Scott: Hold on, if they found the body, then what are they looking for?
Stiles: That's the best part. They only found half. We're going.
“Damn it Stiles” Noah shook his head at his son.
“You named your son Stiles Stilinski?” Chris Argent finally spoke up.
“No of course not, he just prefers to go by Stiles. He’s named after his grandfather but it’s difficult to pronounce. Stiles just kind of stuck.”
*There was a sign Beacon Hills Preserve: No Entry After Dark. A blue jeep pulled up and the two boys got out Scoot looked less than thrilled* Scott: We're seriously doing this?
Stiles: You're the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town.
Scott: I was trying to get a good night's sleep before practice tomorrow.
Stiles: Right, 'cause sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort.
Scott: No, because I'm playing this year. In fact, I'm making first line.
Stiles: Hey, that's the spirit. Everyone should have a dream, even a pathetically unrealistic one.
“Way to be down on themselves” Nathan, Derek’s older brother, commented.
Scott: Just out of curiosity, which half of the body are we looking for?
Stiles: Huh! I didn't even think about that.
Scott: And, uh, what if whoever killed the body is still out here?
Stiles: Also something I didn't think about.
Derek scoffed. It really was a wonder that the two hadn’t gotten themselves killed yet.
Scott: It's - comforting to know you've planned this out with your usual attention to detail. *the two boys climbed their way up a hill Scott just behind breathing heavily*
Stiles: I know.
Scott *leaning against a tree he pulls out his inhaler*: Maybe the severe asthmatic should be the one holding the flashlight, huh?
Melissa winced she always worried about Scott at times like these. His asthma had gotten pretty bad and being friends with a hyperactive boy dragging him along sometimes didn’t help. She knew Stiles would never let Scott get hurt but she still worried. All the times he’d been in the hospital made it a constant on her mind.
Stiles: Wait, come on! *Stiles took off running and Scott followed along behind trying but failing to keep up*
Scott: Stiles! Wait up! Stiles! Stiles!
*Stiles turned to wait for Scott before a flashlight was on him and he fell backwards as a dog leaped forward*Cop: Hold it right there!
Sheriff: Hang on, hang on. This little delinquent belongs to me.
*Stiles stood up brushing himself off* Stiles: Dad, how are you doing?
Everyone in the room snickered.
Melissa smiled over at Noah. “Looks like you finally became Sheriff Congratulations!”
“Thanks Melissa” he grinned back
Sheriff: So, do you, uh, listen in to all of my phone calls?
Stiles: No, heh. Not the boring ones.
Sherriff Stilinski looked over at Derek “Does he still do that?”
“Yeah, but it does come in handy.” Stiles annoyed the hell out of Derek but the werewolf had to admit that the teen was smart and his information gathering had helped them out a lot. He’d begun to even feel a little bit attached to the idiot. He was part of the pack; human or not.
Sheriff: Now, where's your usual partner in crime?
Stiles: Who, Scott? Sc - Scott's home. He said he wanted to get a good night's sleep for first day back at school tomorrow. It's just me. In the woods. Alone.
Sheriff: Scott, you out there? Scott? Well, young man, I'm gonna walk you back to your car. And you and I are gonna have a conversation about something called invasion of privacy.
“Sorry Melissa, I should have had the others look around a bit more” The Sheriff said sheepishly.
“It’s alright; I can hardly blame you for my son’s actions.” Melissa still looked worried as any mother would.
*Scott was left alone in the woods he walked back through the trees looking around him. Suddenly he stopped lifting his inhaler but before he could get the chance to breathe in a group of deer ran through the clearing toppling Scott.*
“Animals don’t normally move like that do they?” Melissa asked on the edge of her seat in worry.
“No they don’t” Talia watched the screen her face grim “Not unless they’ve been scared and these deer are more than just scared they're terrified.”
*Scott stood up pulling out his phone to use the light to look for his fallen inhaler, instead, he found something else. The second half of the body*
The room was suddenly silent. Laura was the first one to speak “That’s me, isn’t it?” She looked toward Derek and didn’t need to hear his answer to know the truth. Talia and the others looked horrified. Her two siblings gathered around her protectively. Peter glared over at the Argent's “This better not be you’re doing” He snarled.
Chris Argent said nothing but his wife glared back.
Laura wanted to question Derek to ask him what had happened, why she was dead, and not just dead but literally ripped in half. Her face turned slightly green at the very thought and she was shaking in her siblings arms. Sure being a werewolf was a hard and dangerous life but she’d always been a survivor. She was the eldest Hale and her mother’s heir. Apparently even her strength hadn’t’ been enough to save her.
*Scott let out a yell and jumped back toppling down a hill his back hit a tree and he gasped for breath as he finally came to a stop. He got himself to his feet and climbed over a fallen log looking startled and ready to be out of the woods. Scott stopped once more as he heard a growl behind him and turned slowly. The camera panned around to show a large wolf it jumped at Scott red eyes gleaming. Scott let out a loud yell as he tried to get away from the creature but was pulled back. There was a flash of teeth and Scott let out a yell of pain*
Melissa was shaking, tears in her eyes. The sheriff had an arm over her shoulder. They were too distracted to pay any attention to the talk going on around them.
Talia had a hand over her mouth.
“And you were blaming us?” Chris questioned the werewolves.
“This is not how we do things,” Talia said seriously. “We turn those who want to be turned and even then we are sure of whom they are before any sort of decision is made. Whoever that wolf is he’s not part of the Hale family.” The other’s nodded along.
*Scott was up and running in the next second and he didn’t stop until he was out of the woods. He stumbled into the street and was almost hit by a car*
The Argents recognized their car and looked at each other briefly.
*He pulled up his sweatshirt to show a large bite bleeding sluggishly.*
Melissa let out a sigh of relief “He’s ok, he’s alright” she whispered to herself.
*The scene changed to the school building. Scott was biking to school.* A fancy car pulled up beside him and the door opened hitting Scott. A rich good looking guy stepped out looking at Scott*Jackson: Dude - watch the paint job.
Danny: Yo, Jackson, let's go, bro.
*time skipped a little to Scott showing Stiles the bandaged bite mark* Stiles: Okay, let's see this thing. Ooh!
Scott: Yeah. Whoa! It was too dark to see much, but I'm pretty sure it was a wolf.
Stiles: A wolf bit you?
Scott: Uh - huh.
Stiles: No, not a chance.
Scott: I heard a wolf howling.
Stiles: No, you didn't.
Scott: What do you mean, no, I didn't? How do you know what I heard?
Stiles: Because California doesn't have wolves, okay? Not in like 60 years.
“It’s weird that Stiles knows things like that”
“I know I get a lot of menial facts thrown at me” The sheriff laughed he’d gotten used to it.
Stiles: Yes, really. There are no wolves in California.
Scott: All right, well, if you don't believe me about the wolf, then you're definitely not gonna believe me about when I tell you I found the body.
Stiles: You - are you kidding me?
Scott: No, man, I wish. I'm gonna have nightmares for a month.
Stiles: Oh, god, that is freakin' awesome. I mean, this is seriously gonna be the best thing that's happened to this town since –
“Your son is way too happy about finding a body Sheriff” It was Nathan the elder Hale brother.
“Don’t I know it.”
The Hale’s were trying their best not to think about the fact that it was Laura’s. They could change this future, isn’t this why they were here?
Since the birth of Lydia Martin. *A beautiful strawberry blonde teen walked right past Stiles and Scott without even a glance* Hey, Lydia - You look - Like you're gonna ignore me. You're the cause of this, you know.
Scott: Uh - huh.
Stiles: Draggin' me down to your nerd depths. I'm a nerd by association. I've been scarlet - nerded by you.
They all laughed. Talia smiled happy for Stiles she could already see his importance in Scott’s life, maybe even her son’s if his face or the way he looked at him was anything to go by. Call it a mother’s intuition.
Teacher: As you all know, there indeed was a body found in the woods last night. And I am sure your eager little minds are coming up with various macabre scenarios as to what happened. But I am here to tell you that the police have a suspect in custody, which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus which is on your desk outlining this semester. *Scott heard a phone ring and looked around startled no one else seemed to be able to hear it. His eyes searched the class*
Allison: Mom, three calls on my first day is a little overdoing it. *His eyes were drawn outside while he saw a pretty girl seated on the bench talking into her cell phone* Everything except a pen. Oh, my God, I didn't actually forget a pen. Okay, okay. I gotta go. Love ya.
“How is he hearing that?” Melissa looked around the room. The Hale’s shifted slightly. Talia sighed and stood up. She turned to the three mortals. “There is something you should know.” Talia began her explanation.
Melissa and the others stared at the woman before them like she was mad. “Werewolves?” Melissa looked completely disbelieving.
“I would show you, but here in this room, our abilities have been nullified. You’ll see for yourself in time. Your son was bitten; he will turn.” she said leaving out the part where Scott might die if the bite didn’t take.
“This is impossible,” Noah said, “She’s clearly mad.” Melissa did not know what to believe Talia didn’t seem to be out of her mind, in fact, she seemed quite well put together.
Vice - Principal: Sorry to keep you waiting. So you were saying San Francisco isn't where you grew up?
Allison: No, but we lived there for more than a year, which is unusual in my family.
Vice - Principal: Well, hopefully Beacon Hills will be your last stop for a while. Class, this is our new student, Allison Argent. Please do your best to make her feel welcome.
*Scott turned around and handed her a pen* Allison: Thanks.
“Smooth” Cora laughed
The Argents didn’t look pleased; they did not want their daughter mixing with werewolves.
Teacher: We'll begin with Kafka's Metamorphosis, on page 133.
*After class in the hallway Scott listened in on the girl’s conversation from across the hall*Lydia: That jacket is absolutely killer. Where'd you get it?
Allison: My mom was a buyer for a boutique back in San Francisco.
Lydia: And you are my new best friend. Hey, Jackson.
“He caught on to the listening quite easily” Jason commented
“Yeah Scott is a natural at the werewolf thing” Derek couldn’t help but add on. It was weird talking to his dead father but it wasn’t like he could just ignore them either. “It didn’t take him long to control himself either.”
Talia raised an eyebrow at that and looked back at the screen.
Girl: Can someone tell me how new girl is here all of five minutes, and she's already hanging out with Lydia's clique?
Stiles: Because she's hot. Beautiful people herd together.
Lydia: So, this weekend, there's a party.
Allison: A party?
Jackson: Yeah - Friday night. You should come.
Allison: Uh, I can't. It's family night this Friday. Thanks for asking.
Chris smiled slightly at his daughter's lie. He hoped she would make good friends preferably not Scott. Lydia and Jackson seemed nice.
Jackson: You sure? Everyone's going after the scrimmage.
Allison: You mean like football?
Jackson: Football's a joke in Beacon. The sport here is lacrosse. We've won the state championship for the past three years.
Lydia: Because of a certain team captain.
Jackson: Well, we have practice in a few minutes. That is, if you don't have anywhere else –
Allison: Well, I was going to –
Lydia: Perfect - You're coming.
*Scott and Stiles were walking onto the field*Stiles: But if you play - I'll have no one to talk to on the bench. Are you really gonna do that to your best friend?
Scott: I can't sit out again. My whole life is sitting on the sidelines. This season, I make first line.
Melissa gave a sad smile she wondered how long Scott had felt like that. “Go get ‘em” She whispered.
Coach: You're on goal.
Scott: I've never played.
Coach: I know - scoring some shots will give the boys a confidence boost. It's a first day back thing. Get 'em energized, fired up!
Melissa scoffed. “I can’t believe him.”
Scott: What about me?
Coach: Try not to take any in the face. Let's go! Come on!
Talia looked completely disapproving when Derek let out a snort.
Allison: Who is that?
Lydia: Him? I'm not sure who he is. Why?
Allison: He's in my English class.
“I want out daughter far away from him” Victoria whispered to her husband who gave a stiff nod.
*Scott who had been listening in on Allison was not prepared for the high pitched whistle and grabbed his ear. A player stepped forward launching a ball at him and it hit him straight on sending him back into the net. The coach and players laughed while Stiles grimaced*
Jackson: Hey, way to catch with your face, McCall!
*Scott stood up and there was a new determined look in his eyes. He caught the next ball looking shocked. Stiles gave a small whoop of excitement. Scott continued to catch ball after ball Stiles cheered him on.*
“I should be proud, but is that considered cheating?”
“He’s using his resources.” Nathan said with a shrug. Laura hit him.
“It’s kind of cheating, but in his defense, he doesn’t know he’s cheating.” She commented
Allison: He seems like he's pretty good.
Lydia: Oh, very good.
*Jackson stepped forward and everyone watched as he ran forward and let the ball sail toward Scott. Things seemed to move in slow motion as Scott caught the ball. There was a loud cheer. Stiles jumped up grinning brightly.*
Stiles: That’s my friend!
*The scene changed; the two boys were back trekking through the woods.*
“They certainly don’t give up” Talia murmured
Scott: I don't - I don't know what it was. It was like I had all the time in the world to catch the ball. And that's not the only weird thing. I - I can - hear stuff I shouldn't be able to hear. Smell things.
Stiles: Smell things? Like what?
Scott: Like the mint - mojito gum in your pocket.
Stiles: I don't even have any mint - mojito - *he pulled the gum out of his pocket and looked at Scott weirded out* so all this started with a bite.
Scott: What if it's like an infection, like, my body's flooding with adrenaline before I go into shock or something?
Stiles: You know what? I actually think I've heard of this - It's a specific kind of infection.
Scott: Are you serious?
Stiles: Yeah. Yeah, I think it's called - lycanthropy.
Derek shook his head. Leave it to Stiles to get it right in one.
Scott: What's that? Is that bad?
The Hale’s all laughed.
Stiles: Oh, yeah, it's the worst. But only once a month.
Scott: Once a month?
Stiles: Mm - hmm. On the night of the full moon. (howls) Hey, you're the one who heard a wolf howling.
*Scott pushed Stiles*Scott: Hey, there could be something seriously wrong with me.
Stiles: I know! You're a werewolf! Rrr! Okay, obviously I'm kidding. But if you see me in shop class trying to melt all the silver I can find, it's 'cause Friday's a full moon.
“Silver doesn’t work on werewolves,” Talia said with an amused smile
“Could Stiles be in danger then?” The Sheriff questioned looking worried.
Talia’s smile dropped “A lot of people could be in danger; unfortunately, I don’t know what will happen with Scott or his friends. We’ll just have to watch or Derek could enlighten us.”
They all looked to Derek. “He doesn’t kill anyone if that’s what you want to know.” Was all he said on the subject.
*The two were back in the clearing but the body was gone*Scott: No, I - I could have sworn this was it. I saw the body, the deer came running. I dropped my inhaler.
Stiles: Maybe the killer moved the body.
Scott: If he did, I hope he left my inhaler. Those things are like 80 bucks.
“That’s what he’s worried about” Melissa almost laughed but she was still a ball of nerves worried for her son and what might or might not be happening to him.
*Derek appeared just behind the two, scaring Stiles who quickly got Scott’s attention*
“Way to be a creeper little brother” Nathan laughed. Derek glowered. Not for the first time the Hales’ had to wonder what had happened to the sweet young Derek they knew. Perhaps it was Laura’s death, but Talia felt as though it was somehow bigger than that.
Derek: What are you doing here? Huh? This is private property.
Stiles: Uh, sorry, man, we didn't know.
Scott: Yeah, we were just looking for something, but - Uh, forget it.
*Derek tossed Scott his inhaler before walking away*
“We have got to teach you better social skills,” Peter said laughing.
Uhm. All right, come on, I gotta get to work.
Stiles: Dude, that was Derek Hale. You remember, right? He's only like a few years older than us.
Scott: Remember what?
Stiles: His family. They all burned to death in a fire, like, ten years ago.
There was a heavy silence and Talia closed her eyes she hated to be proven right especially about something like this. And ten years. Derek would have been so young.
“Derek” the other’s turned to look at the man who looked back at them a look of hurt in his eyes.
“Did anyone survive?” Jason finally asked.
“Laura and me and Peter.” Derek said “And Cora, but neither of us knew she was alive.”
“That’s it?” Peter said with a low growl; their whole family burned. He let out a snarl looking toward the Argents. It was their fault, he just knew it. Derek didn’t say anything about Peter he knew it would only cause more confusion. It was better if they found out like everyone else had.
Chris Argent didn’t know how to feel. On one hand that was one less werewolf out there killing people, on the other hand, he knew the Hale’s, most of them were good, some of them innocent humans. He went strictly by the code and it was sad to think that they had all been killed like that.
Scott: I wonder what he's doing back.
Stiles: Come on.
*Cut to the animal shelter. It was raining outside*
Scott: Hey, kitties.
*The cat’s all began to hiss and freak out. Scott ran from the room half terrified. He jumped as someone knocked at the door. It was Allison.*
Allison: I didn't see it. I took my eyes off the road for, like, two seconds to change the song on my iPod, and then this dog, it just came out of nowhere!
Scott: It's all right, it's all right, it's all right, it's all right. Do you remember where it happened so I can send Animal Control to find it?
Allison: No! I mean, yes, I know where I hit it, but the dog is –
Scott: Where is it?
Allison: It's in my car.
*They opened the back of her car and the dog barked and growled.*
Scott: You okay? She's just frightened.
Allison: That makes two of us.
Scott: Let me see if I have any better luck. I think her leg is broken. I've seen the doctor do plenty of splints. I can do it myself and then give her a painkiller for now. Yeah, I have a shirt in my bag.
Allison: Oh, I don't want to trouble you.
Scott: Here. *Allison turned the corner and changed shirts Scott caught part of it*
The Argents did not look happy about any of this.
What? I didn't see anything.
Allison: Thanks for doing this. I feel really stupid.
Scott: How come?
Allison: I don't know. 'Cause I freaked out like a total girl.
Scott: You are a girl.
Allison: I freaked out like a girly girl, and I'm not a girly girl.
Scott: What kind of girl are you?
Allison: Tougher than that. At least, I thought I was.
Scott: Hey, I'd be freaked out too. In fact, I'd probably cry. And not like a man, either. Like the biggest girly girly ever. It'd be pathetic.
Allison: Yeah, right.
Scott: So - It looks like she's gonna live. And I'm pretty sure she'll even let you pet her now, if you want.
Allison: I don't think so.
Scott: Oh, come on. You don't want her to sue. I hear this breed is very litigious. You see? She likes you.
Scott: Uh. Sorry. You have an eyelash on your cheek.
Allison: Oh. It's from the crying. *Scott brushed it from her face* Thanks.
“Aww their cute” Laura said softly even if the girl was an Argent, the two seemed to just click.
Scott: So, um - I was wondering - I mean - Is it really family night on Friday, or do you think maybe you'd like to go to that party with me?
Allison: Family night was a total lie.
Scott: So is that a yes, you'll go?
Allison: Definitely yes.
Chris’s hands dug into the armrests if this kid so much as harmed a single hair on his daughter’s head he was going to regret being born.
*Scott fell into bed smiling up at the nearly full moon. He rolled over into a pile of leaves. The scenery changed Scott was in the middle of the woods. He looked around confused in only his boxers. Then to his left, he spotted a wolf-like creature. Scott’s eyes widened and he began to run the creature running beside him. He jumped over a fence and into someone’s swimming pool. He looked at the owners of the house and blushed.*
Scott: Good morning.
Everyone laughed and Melissa let out a breath she’d been holding. She had a feeling that most of this show was going to leave her worried or terrified over her son’s life.
*Scott put his stuff away in his locker before it was shut on him by Jackson.*
Jackson: All right, little man. How 'bout you tell me where you're getting your juice.
Jackson: Where are you getting your juice?
Scott: My mom does all the grocery shopping.
More laughter. Melissa smiled at the very least she knew her son was a god kid, no drugs.
Jackson: Now, listen, McCall - You're gonna tell me exactly what it is and who you're buying it from, because there's no way in hell you're out there kicking ass on the field like that without some sort of chemical boost.
Scott: Oh, you mean steroids. Are you on steroids?
*Jackson throws Scott into a locker*Jackson: What the hell is going on with you, McCall?
Scott: What's going on with me? You really wanna know? Well, so would I! Because I can see, hear, and smell things that I shouldn't be able to see, hear, and smell. I do things that should be impossible, I'm sleepwalking three miles into the middle of the woods, and I'm pretty much convinced that I'm totally out of my freaking mind!
Talia felt bad for him, this had to be so confusing for the poor boy. She hit Derek over the head “Why aren’t you helping him?”
Derek had the decency to look sheepish “It’s complicated.”
Jackson: You think you're funny - Don't you, McCall? I know you're hiding something. I'm gonna find out what it is. I don't care how long it takes.
*Out on the lacrosse field*Stiles: Scott! Scott, wait up.
Scott: Stiles, I'm playing the first elimination, man - Can it wait?
Stiles: Just hold on, okay? I overheard my dad on the phone. The fiber analysis came back from the lab in L.A. They found animal hairs on the body from the woods!
Scott: Stiles, I gotta go.
Stiles: Wait, no! Scott! You're not gonna believe what the animal was! It was a wolf.
Coach: Let's go! Gather round! Bring it in, come on! Come on! Got a question, McCall?
*Scott had been waving to Allison*
Coach: You raised your hand. You have a question?
Scott: Oh - No. I was just, uh - Nothing. Sorry.
Coach: Okay. You know how this goes. If you don't make the cut, you're most likely sitting on the bench for the rest of the season. You make the cut - You play. Your parents are proud. Your girlfriend loves ya! Huh? Everything else is, uh - Cream cheese. Now, get out there and show me whatcha got! Come on!
*They began to play with Scott getting knocked on his ass a few times. But again after the first few failures he began to change his movements became more precise he even back flipped over three player to score*
Jackson: Let's go! Let's go!
Coach: McCall! Get over here! What in God's name was that? This is a lacrosse field. What, are you trying out for the gymnastics team?
Scott: No, coach.
Coach: What the hell was that?
Scott: I don't know. I - just trying to make the shot.
Coach: Yeah, well, you made the shot. And guess what? You're startin', buddy. You made first line. Come on!
“That coach is something else” Nathan laughed.
*Everyone cheered except Stiles who looked more worried and confused. Cut to Stiles’s room he was looking up information about werewolves and wolfsbane. Silver bullets. He read through books and printed off page after page his whole room half covered in research. There was a knock on the door and Stiles jumped looking slightly shaken as he opened his door for Scott.*
“Woah” Cora commented
“Once Stiles gets something in his head he can get sort of obsessive.” Stiles’s dad said.
Stiles: Get in. You gotta see this thing. I've been up all night reading - websites, books. All this information.
Scott: How much Adderall have you had today?
Stiles: A lot. Doesn't matter. Okay, just listen.
Scott: Oh, is this about the body? Did they find out who did it?
Stiles: No, they're still questioning people, even Derek Hale.
“They questioned you for my murder!” Laura put her arms around Derek sadness in her eyes when he stiffened. It’s like he didn’t know what a hug was anymore. Though considering the circumstance he probably didn’t. “I’m sorry Derek.” Derek didn’t say anything but he leaned into his sister’s warmth and his calm heartbeat spoke volumes.
Scott: Oh, the guy in the woods that we saw the other day.
Stiles: Yeah! Yes. But that's not it, okay?
Scott: What, then?
Stiles: Remember the joke from the other day? Not a joke anymore. The wolf - the bite in the woods. I started doing all this reading. Do you even know why a wolf howls?
Scott: Should I?
Stiles: It's a signal, okay? When a wolf's alone, it howls to signal its location to the rest of the pack. So if you heard a wolf howling, that means others could have been nearby. Maybe even a whole pack of 'em.
Scott: A whole pack of wolves?
Stiles: No - Werewolves.
“He’s surprisingly open” Talia said
Derek nodded still watching the show. He’d always wondered what had happened when he wasn’t around.
Scott: Are you seriously wasting my time with this? You know I'm picking up Allison in an hour.
Stiles: I saw you on the field today, Scott. Okay, what you did wasn't just amazing, all right? It was impossible.
Scott: Yeah, so I made a good shot.
Stiles: No, you made an incredible shot, I mean - The way you moved, your speed, your reflexes. Y'know, People can't just suddenly do that overnight. And there's the vision and the senses, and don't even think I don't notice that you don't need your inhaler anymore.
Scott: Okay! Dude, I can't think about this now. We'll talk tomorrow.
Stiles: Tomorrow?! What? No! The full moon's tonight. Don't you get it?
Scott: What are you trying to do? I just made first line. I got a date with a girl who I can't believe wants to go out with me, and everything in my life is somehow perfect. Why are you trying to ruin it?
“He’s only trying to help.” Cora said even though Scott wasn’t there to hear her.
Stiles: I'm trying to help. You're cursed, Scott. You know, and it's not just the moon will cause you to physically change. It also just so happens to be when your bloodlust will be at its peak.
Stiles: Yeah, your urge to kill.
Scott: I'm already starting to feel an urge to kill, Stiles.
Stiles: You gotta hear this. "The change can be caused by anger or anything that raises your pulse." All right? I haven't seen anyone raise your pulse like Allison does. You gotta cancel this date. I'm gonna call her right now.
Scott: What are you doing?
Stiles: I'm canceling the date.
Scott: No, give it to me!
*Scott shoved Stiles against the wall his fist aimed to punch Stiles in the face. Instead, he turned and hit Stiles’s computer chair knocking it over. He took a deep breathe looking at Stiles who looked almost afraid of his friend.*
Scott: I'm sorry. I - I gotta go get ready for that party. I'm sorry.
*Scott left. Stiles sighed and picked up his chair, that’s when he noticed the claw marks*
Melissa looked worried. As did the Sherriff. The theater was silent.
*Scott got out of the shower drying off his hair he moved around the corner and nearly ran into Melissa.*
Melissa: Is this a party or a date?
Scott: Maybe both.
Melissa: And her name is –
Melissa: Allison. Nice.
Scott: Thank you.
Melissa: We don't need to have a talk, do we?
Scott: Mom, I'm not having the safe s*x talk with you.
Melissa: Oh, my God. No, I meant about keeping the tank full. Give me those back.
Scott: Are you serious?
Melissa: You bet your ass I am serious. I'm not gonna end up on some reality television show with a pregnant 16 - year - old. Come on!
The tension was broken and everyone laughed.
*Scott picked up Allison and they drove to the party. Scott spotted Derek near the back. The man watched him. A dog barked and Derek stared at it the dog sat and looked back at him. Scott watched*
Allison: You okay?
Scott: What? Yeah. I'm fine.
*Derek was gone*
“You know if you’re trying to get him to trust you, or help him you’re not doing a very good job.”
Derek’s ears turned red and he blushed.
*Scott and Alison danced together but before they could kiss Scott pulled back suddenly looking ill.*
Allison: Are you okay?
Scott: I'll be right back.
*Scott made his way through the party slightly out of it.*
Stiles: Yo, Scott, you good?
Girl: Are you okay?
*He made it to his car and drove off leaving Allison behind*
Chris Argent might have been mad at that, but he knew Allison was safer at the party than she was with Scott in that moment.
Derek: Allison. I'm a friend of Scott's. My name's Derek.
*Scott was back at his house sitting in the bathtub with the shower on hitting him with cold water. He watched as claws grew on his hands. Scott looked in the mirror to see his canines growing and his eyes glowed golden.*
“Oh my god, my son is a werewolf” Melissa finally said. She couldn’t deny it anymore. She stared at Talia and then Derek. “Is he going to be alright?!” She was panicking
“Your son is going to be fine. He gets into a lot of trouble but Scott never backs down.”
Melissa leaned back in her chair head in her hands. This was so far from anything she’d ever known.
*There was a knock at the door*
Scott: Go away.
Stiles: Scott, it's me. Let me in, Scott. I can help.
Scott: No! Listen, you gotta find Allison.
Stiles: She's fine, all right? I saw her get a ride from the party. She's - she's totally fine, all right?
Scott: No, I think I know who it is.
Stiles: You just let me in. We can try –
Scott: It's Derek. Derek Hale is the werewolf. He's the one that bit me. He's the one that killed the girl in the woods.
“See now they think you’re psychotic.” Laura said
“I know, I get it, but I didn’t know what else to do.”
“You weren’t the one who bit my son were you?” Melissa finally spoke up.
“No.” Derek confirmed, “It was the Alpha.”
“Alpha?” Melissa was confused.
“Every pack has an Alpha they are the only ones who can turn people. My Mom was the Alpha and when she died it was passed on to Laura. And then the person that killed Laura is now the alpha who turned Scott.”
“You know who it is.” Talia said looking at Derek who nodded
“I’m from farther in the future than this. But I can’t say, it’s complicated.” He left it at that.
Stiles: Scott - Derek's the one who drove Allison from the party.
*Scott jumped from the window landing wolfed out. He ran for the forest. Stiles pulled up outside the Argent’s house and he rang the doorbell and banged on the door until Victoria answered*
Stiles: Hi, Mrs. Argent. Um - You have no idea who I am. I'm a friend of your daughter's. Uh - Look, this is gonna sound kind of crazy, um - Really crazy, actually. You know what? Crazy doesn't even describe –
Victoria: Allison! It's for you.
*Allison came out of her room and looked down at Stiles who gaped. Cut to Scott who was running through the woods his vision was red and he ran on all fours. Allison’s jacket was hanging on a branch.
Scott: Where is she?
Derek: She's safe. From you.
*Derek tackled Scott and the two went tumbling.*
Scott: What did you do with her?
Derek: Shh, quiet. Too late. They're already here. Run.
“Way to be vague.” Derek growled at his elder brother.
“Who’s there, what’s going on?” Melissa was so confused.
*Derek took off and Scott tried to run but was stopped as a flash arrow hit the tree beside him. He was blinded the next arrow went through his arm and Scott howled in pain*
Chris: Take him.
Melissa was up and out of her chair rounding on Argent. “What does that mean? That boy is my teenage son and you just shot him!”
“He’ll heal; all werewolves have a healing factor.”
“You shouldn’t be shooting at young boys, to begin with”
“We’re not going to kill him, just use him to trap the Alpha. We only hunt those who hunt us.” He clarified.
“If you hurt my son so help me god…” Melissa left her threat hanging. Argent gulped a bit.
*Derek fought two of them off before helping Scott get away from Chris*
Scott: Who were they?
Derek: Hunters. The kind that have been hunting us for centuries.
Scott: Us? You mean you! You did this to me!
Derek: Is it really so bad, Scott? That you can see better - Hear more clearly, move faster than any human could ever hope? You've been given something that most people would kill for. The bite is a gift.
“Now he’s definitely going to think it’s you.”
“Look I get it I wasn’t very smart about this, but I’d never done anything like that before. I’d been alone for 10 years.” Derek finally said, “I admit I do a lot of things wrong.”
“You’re learning,” Talia told him softly “The hard way, but it still counts.”
Derek said nothing looking grim. He was sure Scott and Stiles and most of the others hated him.
Scott: I don't want it.
Derek: You will. And you're gonna need me if you want to learn how to control it. So you and me, Scott - We're brothers now.
*Scott is walking down the street when a blue jeep pulls up*
“He’s a good friend,” Jason said an arm around his wife.
Scott: You know what actually worries me the most?
Stiles: If you say Allison, I'm gonna punch you in the head.
Scott: She probably hates me now.
Stiles: Ugh. I doubt that. But you might want to come up with a pretty amazing apology. Or, you know, you could just - Tell her the truth and - Revel in the awesomeness of the fact that you're a frickin' werewolf. Okay, bad idea. Hey, we'll get through this. Come on, if I have to, I'll chain you up myself on full moon nights and feed you live mice. I had a boa once. I could do it.
Everyone smiled fondly at the two friends.
*Cut to the school*Allison: So what happened? You left me stranded at the party.
Scott: Yeah, I - I know, I know. I'm really sorry, I am. But - You're gonna have to trust that I had a really good reason.
Allison: Did you get sick?
Scott: I definitely had an attack of something.
Allison: Am I gonna get an explanation?
Scott: Can you just find it in your heart to trust me on this one?
Allison: Am I gonna regret this?
Scott: Probably. So is that a yes on a second chance?
“At least he’s honest”
Allison: Definitely yes. That's my dad. I better go.
Argent didn’t like this but at the very least he saw how concerned Scott was, he seemed like a decent kid. Hopefully, this show wouldn’t prove him wrong.
*Allison got into a van and the hunter who shot at Scott was driving Scott stared*
The episode faded and everyone seemed to settle back in their seats. The screen began to glow again. Melissa tensed she didn’t want to watch her son get hurt.
Talia looked over at Derek knowing they need to have a family talk but it would have to wait.
