Shift the Papers

Work Text:

Elijah looked up from his paper and did a double take. “Billy? What on earth are you doing?”

“Hm?” Billy looked up. He was sitting in the middle of the floor, surrounded by pages of loose paper filled with typed writing in several different fonts and sizes. “Oh, this?” He swept his hand over the mess, and the moving air fluttered a few upwards a little.

“Yes,” Elijah raised an eyebrow. “Please explain why you’ve trapped me in my own living room by spreading paper where I want to walk in a minute.”

“Well I-” Billy stopped. “You want to walk where?” he asked.

Elijah put the paper down and dropped from the couch to the floor, moving pages as he went. “I want,” he said, a slow grin spreading over his face, “to walk over,” he continued, still moving towards Billy and shifting the papers, “to you,” he finished, stopping inches from Billy, their faces almost touching.

Billy looked into those huge blue eyes and gulped at the light shining in them. In the seconds before Elijah’s lips found his, Billy sighed a small, “Oh.”
