    Summary

In a world where Neville is the Boy-Who-Lived, Harry still grows up with the Dursleys, but he learns to be more private about what matters to him. When McGonagall comes to give him his letter, she also unwittingly gives Harry both a new quest and a new passion: Transfiguration. But while Harry deliberately hides his growing skills, Minerva worries more and more about the mysterious, brilliant student writing to her who may be venturing into dangerous magical territory.

    A darker, more savage Harry.

This author has a knack for creating some truely fascinating plots, and this did not dissapoint. Love the exploration of a less canon-like Harry, and although I am typically partial to the Slytherins, this whole Harry-against-[almost]everyone vibe amuses the fuck out of me. The only character I had a real issue with was Dumbledore, and not cause of the bashing (which I have less than no problem with) but because his dialogue was absolutely terrible. Intentionally terrible (I think?) but still enought to get really annoying. Excellent fic tho

Another great story from Lomonaaeren, and it’s not even slash this time.

Harry could be called OP in this story. But since we always see how much Harry suffered before getting to where he did, I don’t really mind.

The world-building about transfiguration magic and specific Dark spells is great. The transfiguration spells and animal philosophy were creative. And all the characters seem their own people, with their own goals. Dumbledore is less sympathetic than in most stories, but still quite understandable. Snape’s thinking is different from usual too, but also very understandable. And the surprisingly easy way those characters’ problems are resolved gives greater insight into not just Harry’s character, but others’ from seeing their reactions.

It was a hoot to see a Voldemort who I didn’t have to fear when he appeared in the scene, yet who was still scary enough to count as a villain who must be dealt with.

    Harry, what have you done....
And yet, I love it. He is perfect in every way, simply not human.
