Written for a prompt at avengerkink:
I want a fic that shows Howard's side of the story.
The war marked him too deep. I read something once where he created the atomic bomb. I like this idea and the fact he never got over the destruction that it made. That's why he started to play with clean energy. Howard is a sour soul and is so afraid of Tony ending up like him, that he makes some distance to "protect" Tony and is always pushing because he knows Tony has BIG potential. He's the man with good intentions, but bad execution.
There were battles fought with weapons, and battles fought in the hearts of men.
Howard Stark, throughout the years.

Howard has a small white star engraved into his watch, marking the 12; it's less ostentatious than a compass, more practical in everyday life. But a star wasn't a compass, and Polaris wasn't Steve, and the watch has never, ever led him home.
