This fic is just delicious. All the rampant UST, the subtleties and words underlying words underlying words. Writing good UST is tricky. Fic has one advantage over tv and film, at least—you don’t have actors. Chemistry between actors tends to be a very random thing. When it works, it works, even if the writers want to pair up other people, and when it doesn’t work, it doesn’t work, no matter how desperate the writers are to make you think otherwise.
Bashir and Garak? They have definite chemistry, and if this fic doesn’t just make you want to squish them together, well…we’re reading very different fics.
