They are nightmares. Creatures with sharp teeth and claws, they came in the night, they took the world in a mess of blood, death and destruction. She sits on a throne, their master, a terrifying beauty. He had tried to follow the rules, he really had. But Charles was never good at following the rules. And she was so hypnotizing. All sharp angles, skin so pale and make up dark. He knew when she was angry; her eyes became solid inky black and dark veins shown through the white skin, like her blood had become ink."
