Chuck Versus The T-Virus

Chapter Text

‘’You ready for this Morgan?’’

‘’I’m ready for anything, Chuck. But you should go in first... I need to reload.’’

‘’Fine. But stay close. Alright; I’m going in.’’

‘’Chuck, wait. No matter what happens. We’ve still got each other, right?’’

‘’Right, buddy. Okay, here I go. It’s dark… but I can’t see- Morgan… MORGAN! There’s something in here! MORGAN!’’

‘’I’m coming Chuck!’’

‘’MORGAN IT’S A ZOMBIE!’’

‘’CHUCK JUST HOLD ON!’’

‘’AH!''

‘’CHUCK NO!’’

Chuck and Morgan dropped their controllers as GAME OVER flashed across their screens.

‘’Dammit Chuck, I’m sorry. I still can’t work the controls right on this game. It’s just not the same as Call of Duty, y’know?’’

‘’It’s okay buddy, you tried.’’

Any further conversation was halted by Chucks ringtone. Chuck picked up his phone to see the face of his beautiful wife on his call screen.

‘’It’s Sarah, must be late for mission prep. Don’t know what time I’ll be back, but don’t drink all my soda. See you later Morgan.’’

Chuck walked out the door as Morgan picked up his controller again, determined to get the controls right.

‘’It’s always warehouses, isn’t it?’’ Chuck whispered as they walked through the room. ‘’It’s such a cliché’’ he continued.

‘’Chuck, we’re meant to be covert, you know, not heard or seen.’’ Casey whispered to him as he passed by.

Chuck sighed and started to whisper back. ‘’I know, but it’s just like in all the movies. And there’s always bad guys lurking around the corner.’’

‘’Chuck; concentrate on the mission.’’ Sarah whispered to him with a smile.

‘’Yeah and shut up’’ Chuck heard from the other side of the room.

He sighed, choosing to ignore Casey, about to speak up until he saw a red flashing light on one of the boxes. He climbed over another box and walked closer, trying to find out what it was. He knelt down and turned the box towards him.

‘’Oh boy’’ he said, loud and clear, as it came into view. His voice rang throughout the empty warehouse and he slapped his hands over his mouth.

‘’Bartowski…’’

The sound had alerted the team nearby, and shouts were heard from outside the building. He could hear the click of guns and ammunition. Sarah and Casey appeared on both sides of him as he stared at the flashing red timer.

‘’Tell me that isn’t a bomb’’ Sarah asked him.

Chuck shook his head. ‘’It’s a bomb. And porn isn’t going to disarm this one.’’

Sarah yanked on both of their arms as men burst into the room, their guns cocked and ready. They dove behind the nearest boxes and crouched for cover as gunfire erupted throughout the room. Chuck pulled out his gun and flashed, kneeling up to help Casey and Sarah return fire. He could hardly see anything bar the small flashing red timer and the light of bullets being fired.

‘’What the hell are you doing with those bullets Bartowski, throwing them?!’’

‘’Casey, it’s a tranq gun, it doesn’t have bullets! And it’s dark!’’

‘’Hey!’’ Sarah shouted over the gunfire, ‘’Focus!’’

Casey knelt down to reload and looked up at her. ‘’We don’t have time for this, this place is set to blow in eight minutes.’’ He pulled out a flash bang from his belt.

Sarah nodded at him and pulled Chuck down to sit beside her.

‘’What? Aren’t we shooting-‘’ Chuck looked at Casey. ‘’Casey, what did I tell you about bringing grenades?!’’ Chuck hissed at him.

‘’Shut up moron, it’s just a stun grenade. Close your eyes and cover your ears.’’

Chuck glared at him before closing his eyes and putting his hands over his ears. Sarah did the same and Casey smirked as he pulled the pin, chucking it over their make do cover and ducking down to cover his ears.

A massive bang sliced through the air and Team Bartowski leapt up, firing at their disorientated enemies. There was silence for a few seconds as they looked around the room, finding most of the men dead or knocked out from the tranq darts.

‘’We need to get out of here -‘’ Chuck’s sentence was cut off as he saw a vial roll from one of the boxes that had fallen in the gunfight. It had a white label on it, writing saying; The Hive, Lab 2. His eyes flickered and his mouth fell open as a database of information exploded in his head.

Umbrella.

The Hive.

Images flashed in front of his eyes before his vision turned white, and the words ACCESS BLOCKED appeared in red writing.

Chuck gasped as his vision became clear once more. He found himself on the ground, looking up into the face of his beautiful wife.

‘’Chuck? Chuck, can you hear me?’’

Chuck stared at her, wide eyed, before nodding. ‘’Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. I just… I flashed.’’

‘’We don’t have time for this; this place is going to blow in three minutes! Walker lets go!’’ Casey yelled at them, his eyes not moving from the bodies lying on the ground and the doorway, his gun still in hand. Sarah grabbed Chucks hand and helped pull him up, keeping hold of it as she ran for the door. Casey followed close behind, bringing up the rear.

They ran through the first two corridors, picking up pace as Casey shouted; ‘’Ninety seconds!''

Chuck wasn’t really paying attention. Umbrella. Everybody knew about Umbrella. It was just another supplier of products. Then what was the hive? He nearly tripped as they sprinted through the entrance door.

‘’Get behind the van!’’ Sarah yelled, still pulling him along by his hand. The three of them were nearly there when the warehouse they’d just been in exploded behind them. They were flung forwards across the road and rolled to absorb the impact. They shook off the slight scratches they had and stood up.

‘’Guys; we need to talk to Beckman.’’ Chuck said hoarsely, as he stared at the completely destroyed remains of a building in front of him.

‘’You don’t work for me anymore Chuck.’’

‘’General, I know, but you need to hear this.’’ Chuck stood in front of the screen in Castle, Sarah and Casey sitting on the table behind him. The General raised her eyebrow and clasped her hands together, nodding for him to continue.

‘’I flashed, on one of the vials in the boxes from Umbrella. Everybody knows that it’s an international company that supplies products across the world. Only it isn’t just that. It’s more. There’s something called the Hive. They’ve been doing… experiments down there. Before I could see anything else, I was blocked access to any more of the files. All I know is that they’ve created something new; something dangerous.’’

The General stared at him for a few seconds before unclasping her hands and sighing. ‘’Do you realize what you are saying Chuck? That the world’s largest supplier is corrupted?’’

Chuck nodded. ‘’I know it sounds crazy General, and maybe it is, but something isn’t right.’’

The General was silent once more before nodding at him. ‘’I trust your judgement Chuck. But like I said before, none of you work for me; why are you telling me this?’’

Chuck glanced behind him at Sarah and Casey who gave him slight nods. He turned back to the screen. ‘’Because we’re going to infiltrate Umbrella. At least, we want to. But we need back-up. We need you, General.’’

‘’And if I say no?’’

‘’Then you’ve lost you’re best agents again. I have the intersect, and with Sarah and Casey we make the best team the CIA and NSA have. You let us do this; we work for you again.’’

The General was silent for a few minutes as she contemplated the proposition. She sighed before looking back up with the same stoic look she almost always wore.

‘’Welcome back, Agents Walker, Bartowski, Colonel.’’

Chapter Text

Chuck, Sarah and Casey walked through the steel framed doors of a sophisticated looking office reception area. They soon noticed a camera staring at them, behind it sat a man in a smart suit giving them a frail look.

"Welcome to the Umbrella Corporation Administration Unit, is there anything I can assist you with today?" he said in a firm voice whilst politely standing to their arrival.

"Yes, actually" Sarah responded passing some papers over the desk.  "We're here about the Elites project" she continued, letting out the last few words a little quieter than the rest.

"Ah, oh right" the man responded as he looked over the paper. "I see you have a high recommendation" he continued with a smile.

Casey looked at Chuck, then to the desk. He clearly didn't think Chuck could handle the training.  The man behind the desk flicked a switch on a control panel, and continued to speak.

"Could you bring in Ms. Ocampo?"

A few moments later the door to the other corridors opened and a tall, dark haired woman walked in wearing a grey skirt and black shirt, smiling under her smart glasses. "Please, right this way" she said pleasantly. The four of them proceeded into the inner corridors, the doors closed over slowly.  The second the door closed ‘Ms. Ocampo’ stopped dead in her tracks and began taking her shirt off, stunning and confusing the three of them.  She then turned to them revealing her camouflage tank top, and under her skirt sat a pair of army shorts. "The names Rain, don't forget it" she said clicking off her high heel shoes and glasses, before tying her hair into a tight ponytail. "You don't know who's watching" she said turning and walking further down the corridor.

Chuck turned to Sarah; she was just as confused as he was. "I didn't see that coming" he stated, turning the other way to notice Casey's reaction - it was normal Casey, blank and unaffected.  However, what he was thinking was another subject altogether. The four of them stepped into an elevator. "Whatever you may see below ground is never to leave this building, tell no-one, nothing, not even a tree" Rain deadpanned.

"I often tell the old oak tree the latest gossip" Chuck whispered to Sarah making her smile slightly, Casey on the other hand nudged him heavily. The doors opened again revealing a dim lighted corridor. "So all this is secret, right?" Chuck spoke out as a group walked down the corridor.

"Right under the governments noses, those who do know are paid to keep quiet or are 'persuaded' to allow it" she finished with a smirk before stopping at a row of metal doors.  "This will be your living space for the foreseeable future, it's not much but I don't wanna hear any complaining, is that clear?" she stared Chuck in the eyes as if she could sense he'd be the one to complain.

"Yes Ma'am" Casey spoke affirmatively with a straight face, trying to show that they were professional. "Good" Rain continued opening their room door, revealing two bunk beds, and a bathroom to the left. "Training starts tomorrow, five AM sharp" she finished and walked around the corner.

"Home sweet home" Casey muttered quietly as he entered the room.  Sarah and Chuck soon followed investigating the small room. Before they could get settled, there was a firm knock at the door before two marines walked in half in uniform, saluting the new recruits.

"My name is James Shade, better known as 'One' around here, I hear you've already met Rain, and this is J.D" the man said presenting the other man to his side.

"John Casey, Sarah Walker, and this is-"

"Charles Bartowski" Chuck interrupted Casey, standing to attention and saluting to One.

"It is protocol to search and remove any item that may be used against us, weapons, phones, video cameras"

"We understand, and didn't bring anything with us" Chuck told him.

"I'll take your word for it Newbie, here's your uniforms" J.D handed them a pile of dark clothes, before stepping back out of the room. "Rest well, the first day is always the hardest"

Later that evening the underground training facility had gone quiet, it was a perfect opportunity to snoop around. "I'll Go" Sarah said standing up, whilst tying her hair.

"They've got high tech security Walker, we won't be able to keep in contact with you" Casey said showing some concern.

"I understand that, I've been trained for this type of thing, unlike the NSA we can be delicate" she said smirking, before exiting the room.

The metal door clicked open and creaked forward slowly, she slid out the small gap and sneaked down the corridor, carefully avoiding cameras until she reached a locked door. Sarah slyly removed a bobby pin from her hair and jammed it in the lock, fiddling about with it for a few moments until a click alerted her to her success and she pushed the door open, closing it gently behind her.  A room full of computers and servers lay before her, ready to show her all of Umbrella's secrets.

Images flew into her eyes from the screen in front of her; large paragraphs of text filled the screen after.  "The Hive..." she muttered to herself, continuing to read on.

'The Hive'
'Head Of Security; Alice A.'
'Depute Head; Spence. A'
'Representative; Robert C.'
'Table of Results'
'Experimentation On The T-Virus'

Sarah continued reading as fast as she could, when suddenly footsteps clicked in her ear and she flicked the computer switch down, taking cover behind a large box of flashing lights and machinery. The door opened and closed again, Sarah followed the boots walking around the desk before trailing her eyes to a females face staring at another computer. Her hair was dark blonde and was tied back in a tight ponytail.  She didn't appear to work for umbrella by the way she dressed, a leather jacket, and black jeans. Maybe she was here to snoop too. Before she could find out an alarm struck both their ears, Sarah bolted straight for the door, noticing she was being followed by the strange woman.  The two of them fled down the corridor, just seeing torches from guns coming towards the room they were once in.  Suddenly, the woman was gone and Sarah caught her breath before walking back to the room with Chuck and Casey.

"There was another woman there, she didn't look like umbrella, and she escaped with me when the alarm went off" she told them immediately.

"Possibly just another lone wolf trying to gather information on Umbrella" Casey told her, shrugging. Sarah nodded and continued, telling them about what she’d managed to see before the woman had showed up.

A ringing filled Chuck's ears, he was being rudely awakened by the morning alarm; one that unfortunately had no snooze button. Basically; he had to get up.  "Come on, Bartowski" Casey stood by the door, already dressed and ready to go.  Sarah was tying her hair back as Chuck got up and flung on the training gear.

The metal door clunked open and Rain walked into the room with her own training gear on. She looked down to Chuck's shoes: converse.

"I hope you're prepared to get them completely destroyed" she spoke with a hint of comedy in her voice.

"Last night a little fox was slyly sneaking around, so don't piss of anyone of a higher rank - they're a little on edge today" she continued preparing to lead them out the door.

"So, Miss Ocampo?" Chuck spoke out as they walked down the corridor.

"Rain" she corrected him, "Yes?"

"What activities are uhm... involved today?"

"Fitness test, cross country, wall climbing, obstacles, and basic small firearm training" she spoke as the group reached the door.

"This is gonna be fun" Casey said, grinning.

In the hall before them were rows and rows of fitness equipment.  On the far side was a built out rocky surfaced wall with dents to climb.

"You are not here for leisure" Rain made clear, before escorting them to another male.

"First we have do to a few basic tests, blood tests, stamina, etcetera"

"Blood… ?" chuck muttered slightly not enjoying the thought of all these tests.

The three sweating agents walked from the room looking exhausted, bruised and broken.

"I can't believe you fired an actual gun, Bartowski"

"Oh hahaha" chuck replied in a sarcastic tone.

"And you didn't pass out getting blood taken, I'm proud" Casey continued to taunt him as they reached their room.  All of them sat on the same bed with a sigh.  Unfortunately, the door burst open again.

"Hey newbie’s, it's your lucky day, we've got an assignment perfect for you three"

One, J.D and one other Umbrella Marine entered the room. "This assignment briefing is top secret, it never leaves your mouths again, not even when the assignment has been completed" One spoke making sure he had their attention.

"The Hive is located under Verdugo City; it's a top secret research and development facility for Umbrella, an hour ago the hive's state of the art  artificial intelligence the ‘Red Queen’ went homicidal, locked the hive, and killed everyone down there"

Chucks eyes widened slightly, all this new information and secrets were giving him a headache.

"We leave in an hour to shut down red queen and condemn the hive"

"I don't know if I can do this" Chuck said as one and the others left the room, as he began tying up his converse.

"You'll be fine Chuck. I'll be right there with you.'' Sarah kissed him lightly as she smiled at him.

The three of them speedily made it onto the lift with the others, then quickly outside a back entrance from the administration unit. A large armoured vehicle awaited them, filled with high tech computers and weapons lining the wall.

"Gear up team, we leave for Verdugo in five minutes" One shouted to the small group of them.  Rain, J.D, a woman with "Medic" plastered on her uniform and One sat waiting in the vehicle as the other three tied up their black marine uniforms, gadgets were attached to every space possible, ammunition was already set in place.  Each one of them got an Assault Rifle and a small handgun.
"Lock and load" One said as the vehicle was shut and began to drive out a private road, beginning their journey to Verdugo. Chuck sat staring downwards to his shoes, soon feeling a reassuring hand on his shoulder; Sarah sat beside him in the vehicle. From a small window Chuck noticed they were heading into a woodland area, avoiding the city altogether.

"There’s a mansion in the middle of the woods, it sits there to guard the secret entrance to the hive, Head of security stays there to protect it further" One informed Chuck, noticing the confusion on his face. The vehicle came to a halt at the end of a dirt path.

"Pack it up and move out!"

The team gathered their weapons and equipment before heading out of the vehicle and up over a small cliff overlooking the mansion that was dark in front of the descending sun.

"I have visual on Abernathy" J.D spoke as he looked down the scope of a sniper rifle that pointed to the door of a mansion, a young female with curly dark blonde hair, wearing a striking red dress and black boots stared out into the darkness.

One stabbed a metal object into a tree behind them, before taking aim with a large black gun with a hook on the end. He took one clean shot, the hook gripped onto the roof of the mansion, forming a strong zip line from the cliff to the mansion.  The noise spooked the wildlife in the trees causing them to panic and fly upwards.

"Sir, Abernathy has been captured!" J.D shouted as the female was grabbed from behind the door.

Within seconds Rain was on the zip line and flying down towards the mansion, she chucked a small black object through the window which exploded inside, before she smashed through the window herself. Casey made a slight whistle whilst the rest of the team flooded into the mansion window, One stepped in last, immediately walking past the man on the floor being questioned by Rain, and straight to the female cowered in the corner.

"Report"

"What...?"

"Report, now"

"I don't know what you're talking about"

"I want your report, soldier"

Sarah stopped to look at this female for a moment, she recognised her from back at the facility. She was the one who was snooping around that night.  Chuck interrupted her train of thought as he approached her, removing his gas mask.  A loud "Blow me" caught his attention and he looked to see Rain drag a man to his feet just as the rest of the team stood in formation in front of a large mirror. He flashed on the mans face.

Matt Addison.

Sister: Lisa Addison.

Undercover agent.

Chuck shook his head as he finished his flash, the Intersect once again refusing to give him more information. Sarah and Casey looked at him curiously, but he just shook his head. They stood still as One's voice resonated through the room.

‘’Open it.’’
