It Feels Like I'm Falling Apart

Work Text:

"Never mind I'll find, someone like you.

I wish nothing but the best, for you, too.

Don't forget me, I begged; I'll remember you said.

Sometimes it last in love, but sometimes it hurts instead."

A heartbreaking sob cut through the silence that was surrounding the auditorium. Santana voice broke at the end of the song as soon as her eyes met with the look of a now very ashamed Finn.

Finn Hudson, the boy that was stupid enough to give his V card to her and then hated her for it. Finn Hudson, the boy that was supposed to be her team leader, her friend, and part of the little family they all became. Finn Hudson, the boy that managed to ruin her life in only two minutes in a stupid argument over the fucking broken nose of the stupid leprechaun. Finn Hudson, the boy that outed her to the world because he didn't know when to keep his mouth shut.

Finn Hudson, the boy she now hated more than anything else in the world.

Another loud whimper escaped from her lips and suddenly a hand was on her shoulder, trying to comfort her. At the contact, Santana jumped back, startled and looked up to see Mercedes's understanding look.

"Are you ok?"

The question was simple and full of good intention, but the concern in her voice was enough to send the Latina over the edge.

No, she wasn't ok. Her life was about to fall apart and she was terrified and mad and especially angry with the one that was to blame for this.

Finn.

Her eyes locked on him again and suddenly, all she was seeing was red. She started making her way off the stage, hungry for a payback or any shit similar to that. She needed to take her anger out on him; she needed to make him paid for all that was about to happen to her. She needed revenge.

"Santana?" Brittany's voice stopped her at the end of the stairs. "What's going on?"

The brunette locked eyes with her now girlfriend and saw the confusion of the whole situation on innocent and clear blue eyes.

Of course. Everybody knew that she was a lesbian now, but nobody was aware of the fact that it was all because of her stupid fight with Finn. He made sure to play the 'I don't know what happened' card when the story came out in the news.

That dumb ass bastard was going to pay.

Ignoring her girlfriend for the first time in all her life, Santana made her way to where the New Directions were sitting and stood right in front of a very pale looking Finn.

"Is this what you wanted?" she hissed. "You ruined my life... are you happy now?" the sneer on her voice was clear enough to get Rachel's attention.

"What are you talking about, Santana? I am sure that whatever it is that you think that Finn did is a misunderstanding, he would never..."

"Oh right! Of course I'm the one making a mistake, Rachel." She cut the little diva off, because seriously, she was so not in the mood to put up with her right now. "I mean… we are talking about Finn Hudson after all. We all know he's the role model, the perfect boy... our amazing leader." The sarcasm dripping out of her words made Rachel gasp, in a mix between of being offended and completely surprised. "Finn Hudson, the boy who let the whole school bully his brother and did nothing because of his popularity. The boy who broke up with you, Rachel, because you 'cheated' on him even though he spent months lying to your face. The very same boy that went behind his friend's back and made Quinn cheat on that same friend with him just to dump her as soon as he realized that you were taken again." By now, everyone was paying close attention to everything the Latina was saying. Rachel's eyes were wide open and Finn looked pretty close to having a heart attack. "Why don't you do me the honor of telling our friends, Finn? Why don't you tell them your last achievement?"

"Umm..."

"Finn..." Quinn took a step towards him. Her shoulders were tense and she looked ready to jump at him with just a signal from the brunette. The ex HBIC's gaze met Santana's and just two seconds after that, the head Cheerios saw understanding flash through hazel eyes. "You bastard!" She screamed, pushing Finn's chest so hard that he stumbled backwards and fell on a seat. "How could you do that to her?" Quinn voice sounded like a low and threatening growl. "I am going to kill you!" She lunched forward again but Puck was already holding her back by the waist.

Santana stood still, completely taken aback by Quinn's reaction and still trying to control her own anger. She threw a grateful look at her blonde friend and set her cold stare back to a Finn, who was now a nervous wreck.

"Anything you want to share with the class, Finnocense?" Quinn asked through clenched teeth.

"I..."

"Just say it." Kurt said, rolling his eyes, completely annoyed with his brother's lack of brain function.

"...I was the one that outed Santana."

For two seconds, everything was completely silent. And then the last person that crossed Santana's mind as the one that would actually defend her, spoke.

"You WHAT?!" Rachel's voice boomed in the auditorium, startling everyone at once. "Tell me it's not true, Finn Hudson." She commanded in a tone so stern that it even made the rest of the group gulp.

"I was just saying that she needed to be out already! That way she would be more happy and she needed to be true to herself and..."

"You can't force people to came to terms with their sexuality, Finn! It is none of your business what they do with their lives and the decisions they make."

"I never meant to push her, not too hard anyways..." he started talking, looking down, and not being brave enough to face anyone from his group of friends. Even less Santana's cold and dark eyes. "I was pretty angry at her because she broke Rory's nose. She has been mean and rude and a bully to all of us and someone had to put a stop to it."

"You just ruined her life, you jerk!" Quinn said, fighting Puck's embrace.

"I can't believe you did that, dude, that's low..." said boy spoke, his tone was serious and he was looking at his ex best friend disapprovingly.

"I didn't thought anyone would hear us, I mean..." Finn quickly stood up and desperately looked around, almost as if he were going to start pacing; but the small space was to full of people for him to do that.

"You were screaming at me in the middle of the damn hall, Hudson. I mean, hey, you might as well go now and hang up posters of my face saying 'I finally squeezed my lemon' and holing onto fucking rainbow flags!" Santana practically barked taking a few steps forwards.

A part of her was thankful when no one, not even Berry, made an attempt to stop her.

"I'm sorry, okay!" He screamed back. "I know I messed up things for you and I am sorry. I never meant to do it; I would never want to intentionally hurt you like that. And I really hope you can forg..."

Finn's words died in his throat when Santana's hand connected with his face in the strongest slap she had ever give. Her whole body was trembling and she felt as if someone were pulling every part of her being apart.

"You do not get to say 'I'm sorry'. You ruined my life, everything that I had, everything that I have ever fought for is now gone and it's your entire fault. So no, you don't get to feel better after what you did because you've completely torn me. And every time you see me crying, every time you see me being unhappy, you will know that it was your fault and you will have to live with that."

She was about to breakdown, and she needed to get out of here.

"I will never forgive you, Finn." The brunette said, tears already falling down her face.

Turning on her heels, Santana started running out of the auditorium as if her life depended on it. Brittany gave Finn the angriest look she has ever given to anybody and took off, chasing her girlfriend.

The rest of the group stood completely shocked by everything that had happened. The only one that was moving was Quinn, who was still struggling against Puck.

"Let me go, Puckerman!" She growled, kicking at him. "I have to go find Santana."

He let his arms fall to his side, but still kept a close eye on the blonde. She started to make her way to the door, already thinking of places where Santana could have run to hide.

"Way to go, Finn. You do know how to keep a family together." Rachel's sharp comment took them all by surprise, included Quinn, who stopped dead on her tracks. "You were supposed to makes us feel secure, you were supposed to be there for us... not hit us when we already have the face on the floor." He flinched at her words but she didn't care, and continued speaking. "I can't be with a person that ruins lives with the same ease that he ruins a perfectly good movie mood because he doesn't understand what's going on. I can't be with a person that betrays his friends in the way that you just did. I can't be with a person that I don't respect, and I certainly can't be with a person that I don't trust anymore." Rachel said, turning his back on the tall boy and walking towards the exit just to stop when she almost hit a smiling Quinn. "It's over. We are over."

And with that, she pushed the doors and walked out of the place with her head held high and the thought of finding Santana being the only thing in her mind.

"Thanks." Quinn's voice was low and calm, but full of sincerity. "You know, for sticking up for her even thought she... we, have been nothing but terrible towards you."

Rachel smiled warmly and then said. "I always stick up for my friends, no matter if we don't get along really well, I'll always do my best to protect them."

Quinn felt her lips lift up at the diva's words and opened her mouth to start saying how sorry she was for being so cruel when a loud crash startled them. They rushed towards the source of the sound and opened the doors of the girl’s bathroom to stop abruptly at the sight in from of them.

Santana was on the floor, it seem as if she had been pushed and felt, and Brittany was facing three Cheerios with a deathly look on her face.

"You touch her again, and you will never cheer for the rest of your life."

"I told you to get out of the way, Brittany. We don't want to hurt you... we just want to have a little chat with this dyke." One of them said, trying to step closer to Santana but being immediately blocked by the blonde gleek.

"What's going on here?" Quinn asked sternly, finally walking towards the group. She stood next to Brittany and closed her arms over her chest in a superior manner.

"Stay out of this, Fabray, you aren't part of the squad anymore."

"But I can still kick your ass, Hannah." She growled, stepping closer to the cheerleader. "Leave my girls alone, or you will have to face me."

"You aren't the queen anymore, Juno."

Quinn opened her mouth to reply when Rachel cut her off.

"Hannah Anderson?" she asked with innocence. "Hmm, I knew it was you."

"What are you talking about, Treasure Tail?" the girl made a disgusted face at the fact that Rachel was actually talking to her.

Both Brittany and Quinn stepped even closer to Hannah, ready to strike, when once again the diva stopped them.

"You know, I always have ballet classes at least three afternoons a week in the dance studio near the abandoned factory. My dads are still at work by the time I get out of practice so I pretty much have to walk back home and, I have to say, you'll be surprised of the people I see at night in the second floor of that spooky place." The brunette commented as if it were nothing, but the terrified look on the cheerleader's face was enough to make the two blondes back down a bit. "Do you know that place, Hannah? Do you know about the drug dealers that go there ever single night to sell their products to their very loyal costumers?"

"You don't have proof."

"Yeah, well, tell that to the whole SD card that I have at home full of photos. I'm a freak, I like to stalk people." Rachel said, sounding almost proud of herself. "And my dad works with yours... I'm pretty sure your parents would gladly thank me if I ever give them the possibility of saving their daughter from such a horrible addiction..."

"You wouldn't–" Hannah said, stumbling backwards because of how scare she already was.

"I will, if you don't let them alone." Rachel pointed to her fellow glee partners. "I don't want to find out that this happened again... Not a mean word, no physical abuse and no bullying at all, from you or anyone else at this school."

"You can't order me around." Hannah said, even though she was trembling.

"I don't plan on it, I just want you and your girls to leave my friends alone, as simple as that."

"I won't agree. You are a loser!"

"Yes, but I am a loser that can fuck you up with just one email. You have a choice here, Hannah. Don't make me be the antagonist of the movie, it doesn't fit me."

"Ugh!" Without a word, the girl turned around and was out of the bathroom with her friends in less than three seconds.

"That was…" Brittany started, looking at Rachel that was now blushing, with wide eyes.

"...yeah" Quinn said, her hazel gaze intently fixed on the brunette. "Thank you again, Rachel."

"I was... You don't need to–" The diva seemed at loss of words, so she just closed her mouth and turned to Santana who was now sitting on the floor against the wall.

"Are you okay?" Brittany asked, kneeling beside her girlfriend and holding both sides of her face. The brunette nodded and the blonde kissed her nose. "I love you, with all my heart. And we'll be fine, because our love is strong enough to face anything."

"We are soul mates." Santana murmured, leaning into the warm security that she always felt when Brittany's arms were around her.

"We are invincible." The blonde replied, holding her close.

They stayed like that for what felt like hours. Quinn and Rachel standing against the wall, facing each other, but guarding the doors from anyone that would might want to disturb the sweet moment that her friends were having.

"I am so scared." Santana finally confessed in a broken voice.

"I know, honey." Brittany said, kissing the top of her head. "Take a moment to set free what you feel, San. We will always be here for you, no judging, just supporting you. I'll always be here, holding you... it's really okay to be scared for a while." The blonde stroke the tanned cheek with such love and adoration that Santana felt her chest explode with hundred of different feelings. "Let go."

That was all it took for the Latina to breakdown. But it was okay, though, because her friends were there for her and the love of her life was holding her, never letting her go...

And in the end, that was all Santana really needed to know.
