Basically all comic books follow the same formula. And that’s why I kind of figured this was Scott’s story, you know? Scott was the one who got the girl and the superpowers. He had the mentor and the archenemy. And I was fine with that, mostly.
Because my life wasn’t boring. My entire world had been flipped one-eighty until everything was werewolves and hunters and poisoned bullets, late-night stakeouts and running from my life with frigging arrows flying around my ears.
And I guess it took that, all of that, to make me realize that I didn’t want the girl or the superpowers. I could be the human sidekick and still be a hero. So maybe the story could be about me after all.
