despite the bookishness that makes her a fan favourite, I always thought Belle was kind of a simpleton. But this story gives her a little more edge, and makes Beast more unsure without making him mush, and despite living up to its title there's wee touches of the ridiculous that make everything all the more poignant.

Bittersweet and beautiful, and the characters really feel like themselves. What if they hadn't gotten their fairytale ending?

The title is so very appropriate here! It was a great premise, and you did an awesome job filling it! I love the characterizations of Belle and the Beast, I love the poignancy of the servants when they realize it's too late, and I want to kill that sorceress, which I think is the mark of a great villain! :D
And that last line! *melts*
