Summary
Steampunk AU. The lads at HEM successful split the thaum, and Ponder decides to take a short leave from the university in the interest of research. He doesn't expect to run into his old schoolmate, Rincewind, who is looking for lodgings after returning from inadvertently saving the country. Rincewind, for his part, doesn't expect to lodge with someone who is intent on stretching the laws of magic, man, and gods just to see what happens when the rope breaks. There's something to be said for mutual surprise, at least.
