Work Text:
They were sitting beside each other on a couch late at night, watching a movie. It was one of those rare occasions they’d spend the night together when Tony wasn’t out on a date with Michelle and Effy wasn’t trying to sneak out to go to some party halfway across town.
The Blue Lagoon was the movie; Effy’s choice, not exactly the most appropriate of films to watch with your older sibling but Tony didn’t seem to mind. They were both pretty into it and Tony could always appreciate a good film based on a reasonable piece of literature especially when that film included two attractive people running around naked on an island together having sex. It certainly beat having to listen to their parent’s constant ramble.
Effy always tried to imagine being lost on an island with her brother. She wondered whether she’d be happier if it were just the two of them, together, whether they’d both be happier if nobody else was around and they could be with each other forever. She closed her eyes and let herself dream for a moment before Tony shot a glance at her watching her head tilt back soothingly. “What are you thinking about?” he asked.
She opened her eyes and looked at him “I’m thinking, maybe we could be like them” she replied and Tony’s eyes widened at the words. “Ef, you don’t mean…” he started before she began to laugh. “I mean, if we were stuck on an island together, just the two of us with nobody around, not mum or dad, not Michelle, not anybody, just you and me…do you think we’d be happy?”
Tony had no words; sure the idea seemed logical enough. He looked at the screen for a moment, watching as Richard and Emmeline kissed, and then looked back at Effy who was beginning to move closer toward him. He placed his hand against the softness of her face before leaning closer and pressing his lips to hers, kissing her passionately, tasting the warmness of her breath.
They only kissed for a moment but when they pulled their lips away from each other Tony smiled and stroked the long locks of his sister’s hair with his fingers. “I think you’re right, I think we would be happy” he whispered and Effy kissed him again.
They both went down on the couch together wrapping their arms around each other, losing themselves in the feel of each other’s lips and Effy sighed as she took a breath. She knew this wasn’t exactly their dream island of paradise but it was the next best thing and enough for the both of them. And she knew that Tony felt the exact same way.
