Baby Girl

Work Text:

After nine long months, Leonard finally held his little girl in his arms. Tracing her delicate, pointed ears a tear slid down the doctor's cheek. A tiny little miracle, that both her parents had tried for years to create, she was the perfect combination of him and Spock. She was everything they had prayed for.

"She's beautiful," Leonard whispered softly.

"Indeed. What shall we name her?" Spock asked, gazing contently at his adun and ko-fu.

"Amanda," he said reverently.

"Most logical," Sarek said, startling the two men.

Learning of his son-in-law's pregnancy, the overprotective father had requested the Enterprise to come to New Vulcan at their earliest convenience. Kirk, knowing better than to argue with the seemingly harmless ambassador, scheduled their next shore leave to take place during Leonard's ninth month of pregnancy.

With the help of the Vulcan healers, Amanda was safely delivered to two proud fathers and doting grandfather. And now that she was here, Sarek wanted nothing more than to hold the little girl. Before his wife's death, there was always a distance between Spock and his father. But the little girl in Leonard's arms seem to build bridges her grandmother never could.

"May I?" he asked, walking over to his son-on-law's bed.

Carefully the doctor placed the sleeping girl into her grandfather's arms. Holding Amanda tightly against his chest, Sarek smiled.

"She looks like her grandmother," he said, wishing Amanda was here to see her granddaughter.

Tiny eyes opened and gazed at the older man. Enthralled, Sarek sat in silence as he created a family bond between the two of them. Watching him with their daughter, Leonard smiled. Reaching for Spock's hand, he tenderly stroke it. As they leaned in for a kiss, the two men didn't the tears slipping down Sarek's cheek.

The little girl might have comprised him emotionally but the ambassador didn't seem to care.
