xXx
He knew that the (stupid) land dwellers always say that the sea dwellers were cold and had slightly smooth, wet skin and that it was slightly uncomfortable.

But really,

They had no idea what they were talking about.

Every time he and Fefari touched, he always felt like it was right. Her skin was smooth and the right temperature. Whenever they curled up together (or when they had. It still upset him that she broke off their Moirallegiance), it was comfortable.

Sollux, on the other hand, was the exact opposite. His skin was rough, unappealing, and his skin was far too warm. It was easy to hate him, because he felt wrong against Eridan’s skin.

Point being, sea dwellers were far more comfortable.

He hummed softly, burrowing closer to the larger body beside him. A large arm wrapped around his shoulders and he began to purr softly.

His ancestor was huge compared to himself. Dualscar didn’t even fit in the Recuperacoon so instead they had made a large fluffy pile and proceeded to have a weird feeling jam.

The older troll had shown up out of nowhere, cursing and hissing at everything that moved (aka Eridan).

He also tended to curse about some “Psionic.”

It sounded like it could be Sollux’s ancestor.

Even in Dualscar’s lifetime the yellow bloods were in their lives.

Fan-fucking-tasic.

“Wriggler go to sleep.”The order was drowsy, and it made Eridan give a soft snort. When Dualscar was tired, his “w’s” were drawn out (like Eridan’s were, but only less obvious).

Evidently he was not doing as good as a job as he thought he was doing, as the elder troll lightly hit him over the head. “Cease your laughter Eridan.”

“Sorry Ancestor. I w-was simply amused.” Eridan couldn’t see his Ancestor’s face, but he could imagine the exhasperated look on his face.

“Sleep wriggler. Tomorrow is another day.”

XxX

The next morning Orphaner Dualscar was gone. Eridan stretched, standing from the pile and began to look around.

After a few minutes of searching he stopped, feeling slightly upset.

The elder troll was gone. There was no evidence that he had ever been there and it made Eridan wonder if the last night had been a dream.

There was a note on his dresser though, taped to the door.

‘Wriggler,

Since you’re reading this I’m assuming that I’m gone and you’ve been looking for me.

That stupid Psionic and his blind friend apparently forgot to tell me that we were only going to stay in your timeline for a day.

Eridan.

You’re friends with the Empress-to-be.

You are friends with members of every caste.

You have taken far more steps then I have.

I wish you luck.

Know that I am proud to call you my Descendant.

-Gauvain, Orphaner Dualscar’

He could feel slight tears forming on the sides of his eyes and he sniffed, wiping the purple tears away.

He’d be damned if he let the other troll’s pride down.

XxX

“Tho how’d it go Dualthcar?” Haii smirked over as Gauvain passed him.

“Just perfect you st- Haii.” The Highblood resisted the urge of insulting the Lowblood, huffing.

“Whatever. I hope you enjoyed vithiting your Dethendant. Cato and I probably won’t be able to do that again for a long while.” Gauvain tuned him out, thinking back to his wriggler.

It surprised him that he gave a damn about the young troll. He had never felt anything for any troll (Excluding the lovely Empress), and really, the alarming feeling of warmth in his chest was weird.

“You’re feeling affection Du- Gauvain.” The sea troll tensed, turning around to face the speaker.

Darrius smiled and shrugged. “You looked tense but you seemed pleased when you came back. I’m assuming that you liked your Descendant but you don’t know what you’re feeling.”

“I don’t need you to tell me what I’m feeling Sufferer.

Darrius frowned slightly at the title but shrugged. “Things have changed Dualscar. No one will call you weak if you truly do care about Eridan Ampora.”

“Just. Go away. Go bother your useless Matesprit.” Gauvain scowled and left, heading towards his own hive.

Still, the thought wouldn’t leave him.

He did like Eridan.

He was proud of his little descendant.

The Grand Highblood looked skeptic, glancing over warily towards the Signless.

"Darrius, are you sure this shit won't kill me?"

His moirail sent him a smile, rolling his eyes. "We've all gone through it. Even the Condensce went through it. We're all alive and well. You'll be fine. Gamzee will love meeting you."

xXx
Dumadi made a face, the scent of sopor pouring over him as he walked to his descendent's hive. He had been briefed, like all the others, about the young ones and their lives.

Didn't mean he fucking liked it.

He walked in, noting the fact that the door was unlocked dimly, and looked around. He was surprised that there wasn't sopor everywhere but he could smell it emantating from the kitchen and the grub's room.

"Who's motherfucking there? Kar, is that you?"

The first thing Dumadi thought was that this boy had a lot of time on his hands for such the extravagant amount of makeup he had on.

"I am Th- Dumadi Makara."

'Don't tell them your title. It psyched out my little one as well as the others. Just introduce yourself.'

"The Grand Motherfucking Highblood right?"

The highblood blinked in surprised as Gamzee smirked slightly. "Yeah I know. After Ampora went motherfuckin' crazy after his miraculous meeting we've all sorta expected it."

The second thing he noticed was that Gamzee's tone didn't change. It was neutral, much like how he was talking to the wriggler.

It startled him somewhat.

"Fucking Darrius didn't tell me this." He groaned softly, shaking his head. He was thankful of how large the younger troll's hive was. It could accomadate the adult troll's body easily, which was comfortable. "Well since you know who I am what should we fuckin' talk about?"

"I have a pile full of miracles and horns in my room. Want to have a feelin' jam?"

"Oh great. A new moirail."

xXx

Gamzee never expected his Ancestor to be so good at telling stories. Actually, he never expected his ancestor to tell these stories to him.

"So when I first meet up with Dar and Haii in the Dream bubbles, Haii tried to kill me. I don't know if you can fucking die in the bubbles but I didn't want to find out. Anyway, Dar stopped him and we just starting talking.

Haii and I almost got into a caliginous relationship but Dar stopped us. He's a great fucking moirail and I constantly warn that scrawny Psionic to take care of him."

"Damn that sounds motherfucking crazy. Sol and Kar just fucking got anywhere with each other and Sol and I don't talk so."
The Grand Highblood smiled and Gamzee smiled back.

He liked his ancestor. A lot.

XxX

The next morning found Gamzee alone in his room, reading the little note in his hand over and over.

"gRuB, yOu HaVe DoNe A lOt.
JuSt KeEp GoInG aNd YoU'lL fInD yOuR wAy ThRoUgH.
gOoD lUcK GaMzEe."

xXx

"So? Were you eaten by fleshbeasts? Was he a bad troll? Tell me Dumadi!"

Darrius was annoying when he knew he was right. The Indigo blood sighed, giving the other troll a look.

"He's a good kid now can we fucking move on?"

"Langauge Dumadi."

"It's a tool for communication be quiet Dar."

Chapter Text

Meenah hated it when she was forced into this stuff.

She hated it even more when it was lowbloods that made her do this.

“Oh come on Peixes, thtop looking tho thcared. We all know you aren’t-“

“Haii really? Shut up for a few minutes and let her go over.”

“Pyrope, you’re glubbing shore that this is safe? Dualscar might have just been lucky-“

“We did all the calculationth correctly thank you theabitch.”

“Where the hell is Darrius when you fucking need him?” Cato sighed before gesturing towards the transportalizer. “ Go Empress, if you will.”

“Watch your mouth lowblood-“

“No one giveth a fuck now go away.”

Meenah growled, shooting a glare towards the psionic and teal-blood. “I will find a way to make you regret this Captor.”

“Go ahead and try.”

“Stop for five minutes will you? Meenah, remember that Feferi is the heir apparent. You aren’t allowed to kill her.”

“Whatever Pyrope.”

xXx

The first thing she noticed was that she was underwater. It was a nice change, better than her general location with those idiots.

Why had she allowed the Sufferer, of all trolls, to convince her to live up on the land. Land dwellers were weaklings, everyone knew it.

Anyway, idiot trolls aside; she had a little mission to complete.

“Hello? Is there anyone glubbing home?”

“Hello? Who’s there?”

Ugh. Her descendent had that stupid chipper voice. It was already making her sick.

“Name’s Meenah. Are you Feferi?” Of course it was. Otherwise she wouldn’t even be here.

“Yes!” The girl came out and Meenah mentally warmed slightly. The girl looked rather sweet- but if she became Empress who knew how’d she deal with that shit.

She still hated some of the choices she made.

…Sort of.

“Do I know you?”

“Like I said, I’m Meenah. Her Imperial Condescension.”

xXx

There was no glubbing way that this adult was her ancestor.

No glubbing way.

Everyone knew that the Empress had gone missing sweeps ago. Her ship was never found, though there was evidence in space of her Helmsman.

Everyone knew she was dead.

But this adult was insisting that she was the Empress.

It was impossible!

Yeah, Eridan had approached her a while ago, his eyes wide with disbelief as he recounted a bizarre experience with someone who said he was Orphaner Dualscar.

But he was dead! Eridan showed her the note but she had dismissed it, thinking that it was possible that her moirail was lying.

“You know kid, staring at me won’t make me do a flip.” She shook her head, disbelieving.

“How am I supposed to know you’re being searious? You could be any Tyrian blood!”

Meenah didn’t look impressed. “And an adult to boat? Don’t be stupid. I am Empress Meenah and I am your ancestor. Also very few heirs live to my age and aren’t royalty.
You’re the only one with any promise grub.”

She frowned but relented, eyes watching the elder troll. “Prove it.”

“How?”

“I don’t know! Figure it out.”

Meenah gave a soft growl, brushing her hair back. Feferi didn’t really care, her hands on her hips, dark eyes regarding the adult.

“Fine. What do you know about my ship?”

“You mean the Empress’s ship?”

“I will slap you beach. Just shut up and listen. You know we had a Helmsman and we were going out to invade other planets-“

“Uh yeah that’s why there are no adults.”

“What did I just say about interrupting?”

“Keep going then.”

“Anyway, that Helmsman… You know his descendant.

I almost want to insult you for going after such a pathetic lowblood, but…

He was my matesprit. My half. He was the only one that would listen.”

Because she connected him into her ship. He had nowhere to go.

“I would keep him alive because I willed it. He never died. We were unstoppable! Then the war in the Lunar Galaxy.

It was too much. Half the army died. We were outnumbered and we just barely got away.

We arrived to the Solar System. When I commanded Haii to go forward, to this planet that had enough water to gather information for me…

It was too much. I couldn’t save him. He died before we made it past the largest of the gas planets. We drifted.

The others died. I was the only one able to survive to this water planet. But while alone, I found my army. My army of robots that Darkleer had created before his exile. We took the planet over!

Some brats nearly ended my life. But I lived long enough to kill them in return.

I don’t remember how I died.

Next thing I knew the mutant was sitting next to me, my matesprit behind him. I was overjoyed- then I realized that I was dead. I was dead, and Haii never forgave me.

That stupid brat says it was horrible. He and that mutant were all cozy together- it made me glad to know that I was the only who had separated them so many sweeps ago. They were sickening.

Vantas made me promise not to hurt anyone. He made me stay above water with Dualscar.

I miss the water. I’ll find sources of water and I’ll swim but it’s not the same when I have to go back up because otherwise they’ll find me again.

Haii just wants me dead forever.”

Feferi was quiet, absorbing all the information. She knew parts of it- they all knew about the Signless’s story. Some of them didn’t believe, like Karkat, but others believed it to be true.

It was plausible…

“Then why are you here?”

“Because Pyrope and Haii figured out how to use the Handmaid’s power and send us here to talk.”

“I see…”

xXx

Once Feferi had accepted it, that this was her ancestor, she was excited. She made Meenah tell her everything, about her life before being Empress and then afterwards.

When Meenah left, she gave the younger troll a tiny smile. It was hard to understand what it meant but at the same time…

She was happy.

xXx

“So howw’d it go with Feferi?”

“She’s a glubbing weakling. It was a stupid meeting.” She turned away from Dualscar, hiding a smile from the other Seatroll.
