The best thing about having a sleepover at Sanada's is the fact that the team gets to take over the dojo on the property. Yanagi helps him lay out eight futons on the tatami mats.
"Why do you and Seiichi always pick my place for these things?" Sanada asks, placing pillows at the top of each bed.
"Simple. It's the largest. Seiichi wouldn't be willing to give up his bed and you know it, though his place would be the next logical. His house would be more than accommodating. However, I would not wish to subject his family to the team."
Sanada raises an eyebrow. "But mine is perfectly okay?"
"We're far enough from the main house that the shenanigans of Akaya, Niou, and Marui combined will not bother them."
"Thank you for doing the calculations, Renji."
Sanada falls asleep first. Yukimura tells everyone to leave him alone lest they wish to run laps for the rest of their school careers. Niou groans loudly about how it isn't fair that they can't pick on the loser that crashes early.
"Twenty laps," Yukimura says, slipping under the blankets of his own futon. "And don't even think about doing anything to me otherwise you won't be able to see, hear, or touch for a week."
Yanagi shuts off the lights. "We can at least keep it down. It's late."
A soft chorus of agreement goes around and the dojo quiets considerably until only the crickets outside echo.
"What are you doing Akaya?" comes a furious whisper.
"It's cold. I'm gonna sleep with fukubuchou."
"You can't," Yukimura whispers.
"And why not?"
"Because I am."
"That's not fair. You always sleep with fukubuchou when it's cold."
Yukimura smirks. "I've known him longer." He moves to the other side of Sanada's futon and looks at Kirihara.
"So. What's that have to do with anything? You should share."
"But Akaya, you know ever since my surgery I get so cold..."
Kirihara starts, his lower lip quivering. It wasn't fair, but it's buchou and if buchou's cold...
"Would both of you stop arguing and just get under the damn covers?"
Both of them look down to see Sanada's eyes half open, glaring up at the pair of them. Kirihara smiles wide and rushes to press himself against the older teen.
"You drool on me, you're dead."
Kirihara nods against his arm. Sanada glances up at Yukimura. "Well?"
"I don't like sharing you," he whispers, curling himself into Sanada.
"Hn. Just go to sleep Seiichi."
Yukimura hums as Sanada wraps an arm around him and pulls him close. He falls asleep in minutes.
"Well, this is interesting," Yanagi whispers.
"Genichirou doesn't sleep in Niou," the dataman answers. He kneels down and pulls a cover over Akaya. The action causes the second year to turn further into Sanada's side, his curly head barely poking out from under the older teen's arm.
"You can't tell me that if buchou wasn't in the bed he'd still leave."
Yanagi shrugs. "Seiichi in his bed or not, Genichirou tends to keep to his schedule unless physically unwell. It's eight AM and they've managed to make sure he hasn't moved." He pauses as Yukimura shifts under the covers, stretching his arm across Sanada's torso.
"So is morning practise cancelled?"
"I would say so, but be prepared for a double this afternoon."
"Did you sleep well, Akaya?" Marui asks, elbowing him in the side over lunch.
"Shut up, Marui-senpai," he says, frowning and rubbing his ribs.
"Fukubuchou's just lucky he didn't wake up to you poking him in the leg… if you get what I mean." Niou wiggles his eyebrows.
"UGH GROSS, NIOU-SENPAI."
Kirihara shrinks down, hunching his shoulders. "Look what you did," he says quietly. "You got me in trouble with fukubuchou."
Niou shrugs. "It's not like you won't be able to sleep with them again tonight."
Jackal rubs between his shoulders, giving Marui and Niou and annoyed look. "Leave him alone. It's not like you weren't shoved against Yagyuu all night," he says pointedly to Niou.
Yagyuu raises an eyebrow. "That explains the large drool mark on my pillow. Next time inform me of your intentions, Niou-kun."
"You're no fun, Yagyuu," Niou says with a pout, poking at a piece of meat with his chopsticks.
Kirihara laughs. "Busted~"
"There is an eighty-seven percent likelihood that Akaya will attempt a repeat," Yanagi says, jotting down times on his clipboard. "Along with a sixty-four percent chance that the other members on the team will try as well."
Sanada frowns. "Let them try." He pulls down the brim of his hat and steps onto the court.
"You're not serious, Renji," Yukimura says from his seat on the bench, overlooking the match between Yagyuu and Jackal.
"I might have increased the percentages by ten," he replies. "Genichirou has a pattern of serving aces when particularly rankled."
"It's all about data for you."
Yanagi's lips upturn slightly. "I can't deny there is a certain enjoyment garnered from ruffling both of your feathers."
"Only thirty-six percent of the time."
Yukimura crosses his legs and stays silent for a bit. "I'll play Yagyuu next," he says eventually.
