A rich, wonderful story about the youth of the great orator Marcus Tullius Cicero and his friendship with Titus Pomponius Atticus. I loved every word of it, and all I wish is that it were a novel so I could still be reading it. You don't need any kind of special knowledge of Roman history to enjoy this story; I know very little and it worked just fine for me.

written by toft. (Classical RPF, Cicero/Atticus). The latter was my assigned fic, and can I just say, it was the best prompt ever. Cicero/Atticus! In their schooldays! As I said to T'wings, it was basically a question of sitting down and translating the constant little stream of hearts in my head onto paper. It was a total delight to write, and I am very happy to meet [livejournal.com profile] emilyray, who apparently loves Cicero just as much as me, and there are also some very weird life coincidences, to the extent that T'wings was like, "Did you get sent *from the future* to write yourself yuletide fic?!". I do indeed wonder.
