Inari POV, 100% awesome. I found it a better read than the books, frankly. Sooo good. (I don't think you'd need to have read the books to like this one.)

This exquisitely detailed, subtly developed story focuses on Inari, Inspector Chen's wife (and a demon) as she comes to terms with her own heritage and living on earth among humans. The characterization of this story has the depth and complexity that the canon unfortunately never quite achieves, and the relationship between Inari, Chen Wei, and Zhu Irzh builds plausibly but boldly on canon.

I am brand new to the Inspector Chen series, and was thrilled to discover such a fantastic story right off the bat. I love this look at Inari, and how her character is fleshed out, and her relationship with both Chen and Zhu Irzh develops. I'm sometimes wary of threesome fics, but there's a true balance between all three characters which I adored here.

Beautiful, thoughtful, moving fic about being caught between worlds, about missing one's people and finding one's way. And about Inari choosing for herself, instead of being moved by other beings' actions.
