Summary
What starts as rebound sex quickly turns into a downward spiral of co-dependent addiction. Adam and Tommy both bring heavy baggage to their relationship: Adam is being pushed harder and harder every day by an unsympathetic manager and is starting to long for the no-consequences life of anonymity he’s left behind, while Tommy carries the weight of a string of infidelities and personal insecurities. Their relationship takes them to a darker place than either of them could have imagined.

My review: I don't even know how to review this but I'm going to try. It's so different from any other Adam/Tommy fic I've read, anything else I've read from you two, and even though it was dark and intense and scary and not my usual fare I enjoyed it, I think. It was certainly unique; Adam's usually portrayed in fic the way he seems to be in life, sweet and genuine and maybe a bit of a possessive dom but mostly vanilla, and while I've seen fics with Tommy's insecurities I generally avid eating disorder/angsty ones so I've never seen him this bad. But the fic...
They always work together, always have their happy romantic ending, and so first of all I want to commend you for taking this route - having them get together and having it seem perfect at first, and then slowly showing how they really can't work and how destructive they are, and then finally having them heal and try to be friends again. God, it was so dark and intense and I was mentally screaming NO ADAM DON'T through half of this fic. It's so at odds with the persona he projects now and yet, the scary thing is that it works, for this fic. I wanted to smack him and pull him away during the drugs, the drug-fueled sex with Tommy, the jealousy-fueled sex with Tommy, the hitting, the whipping, oh gods. And Tommy... Brad was right, yeah, Tommy just gives everything up and waits for more, but surely Adam at least knew about doms and subs and safewords? I mean, what with the FYE video and all, even if he just thought it remained in the realm of leather collars. After that first whipping he should have known to give Tommy a safeword. Good God.
And then it got worse and worse, and the knife and just. As much as I ship them and wanted them to work things out and freaking TALK, I was almost glad when Tommy left... until you reminded us he was drunk and then god, ANOTHER emotional sucker-punch with the accident. And then the doctor asking about the bruises sent a chill down my spine and I was just hoping they could explain it away as dom/sub bedroom things, and then the pills.
But the ending was beautiful. Adam sort of learns, Leila is AWESOME, and Tommy, oh god, Tommy, I wanted to hug him so bad through most of this fic but especially so at the ending. All the strength he shows, all the hope and new beginnings in the writing, it was awesome. I loved the drag show so much. And the ending was perfect for this story. You didn't try to force them together; you showed that even if Tommy wasn't straight and they're hot together they're just fundamentally too different as people to work as a couple and they've learnt that the hard way, but at least they can have their friendship and their music, and it was amazing and beautiful and sweet.
I also read the sequel and I really liked it. I've never really shipped anyone with OCs but I really liked Ian - seems like he knows how to be a safe dom and I loved that he wanted to make sure Tommy ate, to *care* for him in addition to everything else - and I hope Tommy can give it a try. Lovely work, both of you! ♥
Now to go find some fluff to calm my poor heart after this fic. XD
