"Pretty cool customer, isn't he?" Ianto heard Danny comment to Becker - it was probably intended to be a compliment, even if the implication (that Ianto might have signed up for this job without knowing full well what he was getting into) was a bit insulting.
Becker shrugged at Danny, grinned at Ianto as Danny turned his head.
It was that grin as much as anything, really, that made Ianto agree to have drinks, after.
"Dinosaurs," Becker said. He was a quiet, slow drinker, a bit like Ianto himself. He didn't drink to get drunk, although on some nights, he might drink to take the edge off reality a bit.
"Used to worse," Ianto said, which got him a sharp look by way of a reminder that Becker wasn't an idiot. "Torchwood," he added, by way of an explanation.
Becker nodded, either because he felt it was expected or because he did, indeed, have the kind of security clearance required to know about things like that.
Neither of them were drunk when they went back to Becker's apartment (because it was closest, because Becker offered, because it didn't contain any memories) but they were both just tipsy enough for the alcohol to make a convenient excuse, should they wish for one the morning after.
Tonight, Ianto thought, that would do for him very well indeed.
