Nyssa had arrived in Starling City the day before from Paris because Sara asked her to be her plus one for a charity event for Oliver's company. It wasn't a common request from Sara and Nyssa was intrigued enough to say yes. Now that she was here in a hotel room with Sara, she had some flutters of doubt in her chest. Sara belonged to the League once more, but she was assigned to Starling City. Between the time Sara returned to Nanda Parbat and left for Starling City, they never spoke in depth about their relationship or what they meant to each other now.
Now that she was here, she still didn't know what she meant to Sara. Nyssa was patient, however, and she could wait a little longer to find out.
"Do I really need to do this, Ta-er al-Sahfer?" Nyssa asked as she exited the bathroom, hair wet and a towel wrapped around her body.
Sara smiled at her as she browsed through the open closet. "I know it's not your thing, but I want to support Oliver and I don't want to go alone. Besides, he needs someone to play distraction and we are it." She pulled out a stunning red gown from the closet. "I think I'm going to go with this. What do you think?"
"You'd look gorgeous in it, but then again, you look gorgeous in anything."
Nyssa turned away from Sara to avoid looking at Sara's expression, whatever it was. She unwrapped the towel and let it fall at her feet. Her own dress was draped over a chair, a tight black dress that didn't leave her any room to hide a weapon. She'd find a way to smuggle one in of course because that was just who she was, but it was more for Oliver's benefit as a sign of goodwill that she wasn't going to start trouble.
She smirked as she slipped on her black thong. Her dress also had the added benefit of catching Sara's attention.
Nyssa finished dressing and turned around to see how Sara was doing. Sara was already in her dress and had her leg on a chair as she pulled on a thigh high stocking. Sara glanced her way with a mischievous grin on her face. Then again, Sara knew how to catch her attention just fine.
Thirty minutes later, they were both ready to leave the hotel room. Sara had her hair in a chignon side bun and Nyssa had the urge to take down Sara's hair and run her fingers through it. Sara held out her hand and Nyssa gladly took it.
The weight of Sara's hand was a comfort as they took a limo to the charity ball. It was located in the Starling City museum and it was to raise money for the Glades. Nyssa didn't agree with Oliver's sentiment, but she kept that to herself. Their point of views were too different. Nyssa would rather raze the city to the ground and start anew instead of letting Starling limp along as it tried to get back on its feet.
"You know you didn't have to go to such extravagant lengths, Nyssa. The limo, our expensive attire, the hefty donation, all of it."
Nyssa brushed off Sara's words with a gesture from her hand. "It was nothing. I am my father's heir and I choose how I wish to spend my money. Spending it on you, and by extension Oliver, is not an issue with me."
Sara smiled and squeezed Nyssa's hand. "Thank you, for everything. I really appreciate it."
They arrived at the museum and a valet helped them out of the limo. Nyssa continued to hold Sara's hand as they entered the front door into the lobby. Nyssa spotted many of Starling City's wealthy milling around with drinks in their hands. One of these guests was in collusion as the money for an organized crime syndicate that wanted to move into Starling City to take it for their own. Oliver wanted to know which one it was.
A waiter came by with a tray of champagne and Nyssa took one. She didn't think it was a worthy goal for a crime syndicate, but she didn't think much of most people or criminals. She took a sip of her champagne. They were always so small thinking compared to what she was used to.
Sara touched her shoulder. "I'm going to look for Oliver real quick. Let me know if you see anything unusual."
As Sara walked away, Nyssa gazed around the room before walking through it. She had been an integral part of many of her father's plans for taking down cities from the inside. The fact that Oliver found out about it only cemented how sloppy this crime syndicate was. If the League of Assassins had been behind this, no one would know about it until the deed was done. Even then, no one would know it was anything but a tragic accident.
Nyssa sipped her champagne as she carefully catalogued every person she walked by. Having money was one thing, but who would gain the most from backing a crime syndicate? She had a file on every single member of Starling City's elite, as a precautionary measure, and Nyssa knew how to draw someone out of hiding.
She stood next to a Mr. Manning and flashed him a smile. "Good evening, sir."
He turned towards her and gave her a long look of appreciation. Nyssa smiled at him as she fondled her champagne glass.
"I'd say it certainly is. I've never seen you before. I'm Gordon Manning, the owner of Manning Enterprise." He held out his hand and when Nyssa held out hers, he took it and kissed the back of her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you."
"The pleasure is all mine. I am Nyssa Raatko, a guest to your fair city."
Mr. Manning had a lustful glint in his eye and Nyssa knew she had his undivided attention. She took a sip of her champagne.
"Pardon my ignorance, but I don't know much about Manning Enterprise. I'd love to learn more."
As he spoke, Nyssa mentally crossed him off the list as a backer for the crime syndicate. She parted from the conversation and went on to a new person. She went through five different people before Sara returned to her side while she was with a Mr. Miller. Sara kissed her cheek as she took Nyssa's hand into hers.
"Sorry, I'm late, honey. I got caught up in this fascinating conversation about birds." There was mischief in Sara's eyes and Nyssa bent her head a little to kiss Sara's lips. It sounded like Oliver and his team were getting close to their goal. It was almost time for their distraction.
When they parted, Sara smiled up at her before turning towards one of Nyssa's suspects. "I'm so sorry, that was rude of me," Sara said as she held out her hand. "My name is Sara Raatko."
Her suspect's eyes were widened as he took in their kiss. He stumbled before reaching out to shake Sara's hand. Nyssa supposed it was because just moments before he'd probably been imagining himself fucking her while they were talking. Then again, if he was as slimy as she suspected, he was going to include Sara with them in his perverted thoughts.
"Such a pleasure to meet such beautiful women, and married to each other, no less." Mr. Miller licked his lips and Nyssa wanted to stab a dagger between his ribs. "Your wife was just telling me about the large donation she made to the police force in Paris."
"There can never be enough safety in the world," Nyssa murmured. "I believe in taking direct action."
"As do I! My security company is new, but I have high hopes for its growth. A place like Starling City deserves to be protected from petty hooligans."
Nyssa met Sara's gaze and tilted her head. It wasn't definite, but she suspected Mr. Miller as their backer. Sara nodded before smiling at Mr. Miller.
"That sounds wonderful. Perhaps Nyssa and I can invest in your company once we receive some literature about it to learn more."
"Excellent. I'll have my secretary send some to you." Mr. Miller glanced behind them and waved. Nyssa followed his gaze and saw a tall man in a business suit who did not look suited for such attire. "If you beautiful women would excuse me for a moment, I need to talk to my associate over there. He's in charge of the day to day security forces while I'm the face of the company. Excuse me."
As Mr. Miller walked away, Nyssa swept Sara into her arms. "We should dance," she said as she led Sara towards the dance floor.
When they were in the middle of the dance floor, Nyssa bent her head so they could whisper in each other's ears without getting overheard.
"I believe Mr. Miller is the backer that Oliver is looking for. His 'associate' is not who he says he is and a security firm is a perfect cover for a crime syndicate." Nyssa made sure her breath tickled Sara's ear.
Sara nodded and touched the hidden earpiece in her other ear. "Did you get that, Felicity?"
"Loud and clear."
They both had in earpieces, courtesy of Felicity, but Nyssa's words were meant for Sara. They needed to distract Mr. Miller while Oliver got to Miller's partner.
"How did you want to distract him?" Nyssa asked.
"I have an idea, but I don't want to do it." Sara let out a chuckle. "I'd rather just bash him on the head."
Nyssa felt the same way. "You can inject him with the syringe if you want. I'll draw him in."
"Mmm, that's why I love you." Sara jerked her head as she realized what she said. They were pretending to be a married couple, but that love you was purely from Sara and not from a cover.
Nyssa wanted to explore that, but Oliver's voice came over the frequency telling them it was time. Nyssa twirled Sara before heading off the dance floor. Sara slipped off to a quiet room where Nyssa would lead Mr. Miller to her.
Nyssa spotted Mr. Miller and smoothed her expression to one a bored, rich woman would have on her face. "Mr. Miller?"
He turned from his associate and smiled brightly at her. "Ms. Raatko! How may I help you?"
"I'm sorry to bother you, Mr. Miller, but my wife and I got into a little tiff over how much we wanted to invest in your company." Nyssa made a small noise as she gestured dismissively. "Do you think you can talk to my wife and try to persuade her to invest a million more dollars like I want us to? She's so stubborn." She said it easy as if a million dollars was nothing on top of the millions more she was insinuating.
His eyes widened and she knew she had him. Nyssa turned towards the associate and placed a hand on his shoulder. "If you don't mind, of course. I want to nip this in the bud before my wife storms off in a huffy fit. You understand, don't you?"
The associate raised his eyebrow and opened his mouth to say something when Mr. Miller nudged him with his elbow. "We completely understand. Where is your wife?"
"She left me on the dance floor, but I saw which way she went." Nyssa linked her arm with Mr. Miller's arm and tugged on it gently.
He flashed a smile at her and Nyssa led him to where Sara was, her arm still linked with his as she continued to talk to him. Sara was in her ear, letting her know that she was ready to knock Mr. Miller out.
"Where is your lovely wife?" Mr. Miller asked as they entered the empty room.
"I'm right here," Sara said from behind them and before Mr. Miller could turn around to see her, Sara grabbed him around the neck and injected him with the syringe.
The two of them grabbed him so he didn't fall and dragged Mr. Miller to a corner. Sara touched her earpiece. "He's down. Make your move."
As they waited, Nyssa looked towards Sara. "You look beautiful tonight, Sara."
Sara glanced at her. "Thank you. You look as beautiful as you always do." The words were said without any hesitation. Nyssa wanted to kiss her and not because they were pretending to be married.
Nyssa stepped closer to her and touched Sara's bare arm. "I don't want to pretend anymore. Sara, I love you. You are my heart."
"You are no longer hunted down by the League and you can remain here with your friends and family. I can easily travel to Starling to be with you."
Sara smiled at her and raised her hand to cup Nyssa's face. "I love you, too. That hasn't changed. But now isn't the right time for this conversation. We can talk about this later."
"Our later keeps getting pushed back and we have time now. Sara, please."
Sara nodded and Sara used her other hand to cup Nyssa's ass. "Okay, so let's talk. We had a really good thing when we were in Nanda Parbat and we're at a point where we could have that again."
"Better because you no longer feel trapped by the League. I am sorry that you weren't happy before."
Sara shook her head. "I wasn't, not really, but I had you and being with you made me happy."
"Then let's start anew, you and me together. I'll even take you out on a real date after we're done here."
Sara let out a small chuckle. "I don't know. I think what we're doing now is pretty date-like for us. But yeah, I'd like that. I'd like that a lot."
Later that night, Nyssa took Sara to a twenty-four hour diner near the Glades. It wasn't her normal place to eat, but Sara seemed to like it just fine. They were out of place in their sexy dresses and heels. As Nyssa reached for her drink, she noticed Sara crossing one leg over the other, revealing her thigh high stockings. She wanted to rip the stockings off of Sara's legs with her teeth.
When she looked up, she saw Sara giving her a knowing grin before biting into her burger. Nyssa merely shrugged as she reached for a fry. She wasn't ashamed of how she felt for Sara.
"I think after dinner, we should go back to the hotel room so you can do what you're thinking of." Sara raised her eyebrow. "What exactly are you thinking about?"
"Your stockings and my teeth."
"I approve. It's the reason why I wore it, after all." Sara lifted her leg and rubbed her calf against Nyssa's leg. "Since we're back together."
Nyssa was going to take Sara back to their hotel room and do just that. She wanted to explore Sara's body until it was just as familiar as her own. Again. Nyssa reached for Sara's thigh and gave it a gentle squeeze. Her fingers lightly trailed the hem of Sara's stocking, dipping inside to touch the skin there.
She still had a few nights left in Starling City and there was nowhere else she'd rather be than with Sara.
