Gonna Fly Now
Summary:
Caveat recognizes an old friend.
Notes:
Based on the upcoming horse racing mockumentary 'And They're Off', featuring Sean Astin as trainer Dusty Sanders, and specifically inspired by a manip by Ink Gypsy that puts Elijah into the role of Caveat's jockey.
Work Text:
Caveat arched his sleek neck and snatched at the bit. He recognized the kind hands on the reins, the light seat in the tiny racing saddle. He also recognized the happiness radiating from Dusty, who for too long had been sad and depressed. The return of the soft-voiced young jockey they both adored was responsible for his happiness. Even a horse could see that.
“Run fast boy,” Dusty said with an encouraging slap on the bay’s hindquarters.
Caveat danced in place then broke into an effortless, bounding gallop. With Elijah on his back, he wouldn’t run fast - he would fly.
