Summary
Written in 2003, after "X2" was released: In the past, a young Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr struggle to discover their powers -- and in the near future (the then unimaginably distant year of 2006), humanity is waging war on Magneto's Brotherhood and losing. The ensuing battle scatters the X-Men across the globe, but brings Rogue closer to Logan than she ever dreamed possible.

I read this a year or two after it was first written and it blew my mind. This is the fic that singlehandedly sold me on Wolverine/Rogue, Iceman/Pyro, and old dudes getting it on. The Charles/Erik (both in the past and the present) is particularly well done, and is still my personal canon for those two. But it's a sweeping, epic adventure story before it's anything else, and even if you have no interest whatsoever in the listed ships you can still enjoy it on a storytelling level.
