Summary
Kain's young brood fends without him, and Vorador takes notice. Post BO2.
Laid flat by the blow, Raziel’s head cracked hard against the marble floor. His hand spasmed, the hilt of the katana jarred from his grip to skitter across the stone. Wow. Okay. OKAY. Wow, so, this is... intense. And, seriously, heed the rape warning. It also has this teeth-grittingly frustrating habit of switching POVs every paragraph or so, which, in a story so well constructed is probably deliberate, but still makes my inner grammar demon go a little bit crazy. It also draws some things out unnecessarily and slows the pace down because one scene is described from up to six or seven viewpoints, sometimes. This, especially in a battle scene, weighs the narration down and occasionally makes things confusing. HOWEVER, there's still a lot to love in this story.
I LOVED these games and used to play them to death. That was a while ago, so my perception may be flawed, but this still reads very true to the characters and the world. This is UNFINISHED so now I am full of sadness. But it looks like the author is still updating, so YAY! I'm very interested to see how this whole thing plays out. I don't see how this can end happily for Raziel, no matter if he's rescued, or even if he manages to rescue himself so...yeah, nail-biting tension, there. I want to see what happens next!
