Chapter Text

Yutaka was sitting on the beach watching the small waves wash over his feet, his gaze was fixed on the horizon where the sun was setting behind the ocean.

" How long do you intend to stay out here?" A low but sweet voice came from behind Yutaka, he turned around to lock eyes with his boyfriend's warm dark brown eyes.

" Well... You know me and the ocean, best friends," Yutaka said sarcastically as Akira next next to him and pressed a soft kiss to his lips, they pulled apart and leaned against each other. "Do you ever wonder why anyone would want to go to the mainland?" Yutaka's soft voice made Akira smile, " I don't know, baby."

The sun continued to set until the sky was a mix of dark purple and black, Yutaka had fallen asleep against Akira who chuckled quietly, picked up his beta-lover and walked through the trails to his village.  Most of the torch lights were still lit meaning they hadn't been out passed curfew, for once.  Akira made his way towards to family cabins where Yutaka's grandparents were.  They're torches were lit as well. ' Phew,' he did not want to deal with a tired, grouchy, Sono.

Yutaka's grandfather was usually a nice alpha, but when someone interrupted his sleep... You can say goodbye to a couple of teeth.  Akira knocked quietly on the door with his foot while he still held Yutaka in his arms.  A moment passed when an omega with jaw length red hair and brown eyes opened the door.

" Good evening, Ayame. Sorry to disturb you."

" No need to apologize I wasn't even asleep, what brings you here... Oh my! Yutaka! Is he alright?!"  Ayame's frantic question hit Akira square in the face,  " He's fine, just fell asleep when we were on the beach." The tension in Ayame's face faded as he gently took Yutaka from Akira, " This boy needs to eat more, he's as light as a feather." Akira laughed softly as Ayame lay Yutaka on his futon and pulled a blanket over his shoulders.

The two stared at Yutaka with pride and adoration until the scent of another alpha filled the room. Akira glanced back in time to see Sono wrap his arms around Ayame's waist, " So the little bird fell asleep on the beach again?" Ayame giggled softly as Sono nuzzled his face against his neck.

" Well, I guess I'll see Yutaka  tomorrow, have a nice evening,"  Akira gave a respectful bow before stepping towards the door, "Akira, wait,"  Akira turned to see Ayame pull him down to his level so he could whisper in his ear.  "Thank you for being there for him, even though Sono doesn't admits it, he appreciates you taking care of our little bird,"  Ayame gave a wide grin and allowed Akira to walk out of the door.

Ayame sighed deeply before returning to his mate who was kneeling next to Yutaka, brushing a strand of brown hair away from his face.

" It's sad that Kiyoharu isn't here to see how much he's grown up,"  Sono gave Ayame a sad smile as they continued to watch over their grandson.

.                                          .                                                   .                                                         .                                                                  .

The air was warm and musky and the scent of an omega in heat was starting fade. Kouyou turned over to find his mate sleeping soundly, considering the past four days were nothing but mating and basic essentials.  This had been Kouyou's first heat with his alpha partner, the rule that everyone had to hold off mating and even sex until 21 was a shitty idea, but what can you do against years of tradition. Nothing.  Kouyou had been thinking deeply since he woke, he wasn't a native to this island, he was ten years old when he and his parent's were flying back from a vacation in the United states when the pilots lost control and crashed into the sea near the island.  Only Kouyou and his cousin Shou survived the crash and were found by the islanders.

The elders and the council could understand that Uruha and Shou weren't raised on their principles, but expected them to learn quickly and adapt to the way they lived.  At first, Kouyou considered going back to Tokyo but his longing for civilization was hindered by a certain raven haired alpha named Yuu. Like himself, Yuu had his share of loss, his own parents and unborn baby brother were caught in a terrible storm that caused them to drown.  Yuu did have his other brother Yutaka, but after the tragedy Yuu had stopped caring for Yutaka and barely acknowledged him anymore and left him in their grandparent's care.  Not that Yutaka had a problem with the separation, Him and Yuu were never really close to begin with and the death of their parent's confirmed the little care they had for each other, it was sad to see how they treated each other.

" Hey, beautiful,"  Uruha was pulled from his thoughts when Yuu's deep, husky voice whispered in his ear, Uruha smirked and licked the tip of Yuu's nose.

"What the hell? You little minx,"  Yuu's seductive voice always made Kouyou want to submit to his alpha's dominance, only this time Kouyou was feeling a little frisky.  Kouyou quickly sat up and straddled Yuu, the deep moan that left the alpha made Kouyou whimper with need, he was still dazed from his heat and felt that he had enough energy for one more round.

Kouyou crashed their lips together in a heated and sloppy kiss, Yuu's hands slid down his omega's sides and pulled him down on his own waist.  Their hard members rubbed against each other, emitting extreme pleasure through the both of them.

" Need... You..." Kouyou moaned as Yuu flipped them over and teased him by slowly placing kissed under his jaw and down his neck.  Without warning, Yuu pushed inside of Kouyou and thrusted deeply.

The next hour was quite heated and luckily the place where couples go to have heats were far from the village.

.                                            .                                                     .                                                               .                                                                 .

As betas, Yutaka, Hiyori, and Hideto were responsible for preparing the village in the morning; making sure that all necessary foods were in stock and not spoiled, that the animals were feed and that the clothes that were drying over night at the south beach were gathered, folded, and waited to be picked up by their owners.

Civils would think that omegas would do the jobs that betas do, but no, omegas were treasured and were treated as such while betas were respected for their work and service.  Betas were a mix between an alpha and omega, they have the brute strength of an alpha but their bodies functioned like an omegas.

Taking biology into consideration, betas were best built for all around work, alphas focused on physical training, construction, and hunting while omegas either stayed home with their children, or made clothing, crafts, helped with education, or trained to be a "nurse".

Yutaka was folding the clothes he retrieved from the south beach half an hour ago, Hiyori was checking the food while Hideto was going back and forth between the hill pastures and the village pastures, he now was giving each animal their individual food; hay and grazing grass for the two horses, three cows, and one goat, then some homemade chicken feed for the eight hens and one rooster.  Lastly, a couple large pieces of meat for the two mix-breed dogs.  Hiyori walked out of one of the bigger cabins with a basket of spoiled vegetables and fish which was used for garden fertilizer.

Yutaka finished folding the clothes and put them where everyone knew where they could come and pick them up, he had decided to go over to where Hideto was working with animals. Both dogs were sleeping in the shade of a tree while the other animals ate,  Yutaka looked around to find Hideto, he scanned the area until he saw him in the village pasture with his personal horse Ebisu.

" Socializing with the animals again?" Yutaka asked as he leaned against the wooden, Hideto looked at Yutaka and nodded slowly.

Hideto wasn't a person of many words, a "yes", "no", "please", and "Thank you" were pretty much the extent of his vocabulary.  Betas normally weren't shy around people, but he was an exception, if anything, he made shy omegas look out-going.  Hideto was nearly twenty and had never been in a serious relationship, no one could really call him out on him being antisocial, or for the fact the last alpha he showed interest in tried to rape him.  Before then he used to be a little chatterbox, but now he was afraid to say more then two sentences.

"Hey, Yutaka!" Yutaka's attention was drawn to Hiyori who was zipping up his black jacket and walking towards him,  " What is it, Hiyori? The gentle looking beta looked at his feet before exhaling deeply, " Kami and Chachamaru want to see you at the North beach."  Yutaka raised an eyebrow as he glanced at Hideto who just shrugged and turned back to his horse.

" Okay then, remember to check the medical supplies before you finish up,"  Hiyori gave him a thumbs up and continued to try to talk to Hideto who only stared between the young beta and the horse.  If a pink ball of pure energy had a name and a face it would be Hiyori.

.                                               ..                                                                           .                                                                   ..

The stone steps that lead down to the North beach were perfectly sculpted from years of other people and weather, already from the top of the steps, Yutaka could see the familiar outline of the two village leaders. Of course anyone could spot Chachamaru's light blond hair and Kami's slender, yet strong fram.  The two have been leading the village for the past twenty-one years and still going, the pair's only son was a pretty omega named Shinya who was now twenty-six and mated Die who was one of their council members.

Yutaka walked across the warm sand and stopped in front of his leaders and gave a respectful bow.

"Yutaka, I am aware that you had lost something dear to you when your parent's passed," Chachamaru said softly as he kept his hands hidden, Yutaka nodded and kept his head down until Chachamaru lifted his head and held a shiny necklace in front of Yutaka.

" Is this what you've been looking for?" Kami asked, but he already knew the answer.  Yutaka nodded quickly and gently took the necklace from his leader, this necklace had been his bearer's and he planned to give to Yutaka the day of his mating ceremony, but never happened.

Tears began to trickle down Yutaka's cheeks as he dropped to his knees and cried softly, he knew he couldn't get rid of the pain, hurt, and rejection he felt.  He could only remember his bearer through a priceless necklace that meant the world to him.

Chapter Text

Kami and Chachamaru decided to give Yutaka the day off to relax and gather his thoughts about the previous morning, his bearer's necklace rested in his hands as memories he barely remembered played through his mind.  He vaguely remembered the time when his bearer would take him and his brother swimming at the South beach's shallow cove.  The two leaders also gave Yutaka his father's ring which his bearer gave to him on their own mating ceremony, Kami wanted Yutaka to give Yuu the ring but was really contemplating whether he should even talk to his brother.

The two siblings hadn't been able to have a civil conversation for the past six months and that made things tense whenever the both of them were around each other.

 " Yutaka?"

Yutaka turned to Ayame who looked a little depressed.

" I don't know what to do Avia! How can I face Yuu when he hates me?!"  The young beta was on the brink of crying when his Avia pulled him into a gentle hug. " Oh Birdie, he doesn't hate you, he just hasn't coped with what happened to your parents," Yutaka shook his head as a single tear streamed down his pale cheek.

"But Avia, it's been sixteen years and he still doesn't care for me," Ayame frowned at his grandson's choked voice while he ran his hand up and down his back.  " Well... This is something you both care about, you can't keep this from him."

Yutaka looked at Ayame and dried his tears at his Avia's pretty smile.  " Okay, I'll go talk to him,"  Ayame's grin widened at the beta's new found confidence and gave him another encouraging hug.

" Don't worry, if anything goes wrong I'm always here and Akira is there for you too,"

Yutaka nodded and walked out of the cabin and over to his brother's cabin a which was a least a mile towards the village.

.                                                                  .                                                      .                                                                               .

Yutaka's heart was beating rapidly as he stood outside his brother's cabin, he hadn't built up the nerve to knock and was standing there looking like a total idiot.  Yutaka finally raised his hand to knock when the door opened quickly.

"Oh! Yutaka! What a surprise, what are you doing here?"  Yuu's mate Kouyou asked with a smile. Kouyou had always liked Yutaka, but didn't engage in much conversation due to the strained relationship between the brothers.

"Who's at the door kou- Yutaka, why the hell are you here?" Yuu's harsh words made Yutaka flinch.

" I, I came to give you something," Yutaka's voice was shaky as well as his hands. Yuu rolled his eyes and leaned against the door frame.

"Whatever it is, I don't want it. God, why do you always-"

" It's dad's ring," Yutaka blurted out as he watched Yuu's eyes widen.

" What?..." Yuu was absolutely shocked, if anything that was the last thing he expected. Yutaka pulled the topaz ring from his pocket, Yuu only stared between the ring and his brother.

" Chachamaru and Kami found dad's ring and Matka's necklace on the Northern beach and gave them to me. Avia and Kami thought it was the right thing to do that I give the ring to you since dad was going to give to you anyway,"

Yuu didn't make any sound, or movement which made Yutaka nervous.  The thing he did do was grab his hand, give him the ring, and leave.

Yuu still had his hand held out and eyes widened, Kouyou slowly took the ring and guided his mate back inside the cabin.  They both sat in silence as Kouyou studied the ring; it had a beautiful, blue, topaz stone and a silver band to match, no doubt the necklace was also a silver and blue topaz mix.

.                                                                                                           .                                                                                                         .

After leaving his father's ring with his brother Yutaka quickly scurried off to his boyfriend's cabin.  As soon as he reached the door he knocked frantically while trying to hold back his tears.  Akira's bearer answered the door with a worried expression.

" Yutaka, are you all right?"

The beta nodded and glanced at his feet.

" I'm sorry to disturb you Kei, but is Akira here?"

The omega saw the teens desperation and ran to get his son.  A moment later, Akira came running to the door and pulled the crying beta into his arms.

" Oh baby, what's wrong?" Akira asked as Yutaka let his tears flow freely.

 " Is it Yuu?"

Yutaka could only nod, Akira tightened his grip on his boyfriend and led him inside his home and sat him down on a pile of soft pillows and blankets.  Kei also accompanied them by wrapping a blanket around the young beta.

" K... Kami and Chachamaru found my... dad's ri... ring and Matka's necklace. Avia thought it was the right thing to do and give Yuu the ring... and I did,"

 " Okay, then what happened?"

Yutaka whimpered and inched closer to Akira.

" He didn't say anything, he just stood there and it made me nervous and overwhelmed, so I left the ring with him and came here," Yutaka was sobbing loudly and clinging to Akira.

"It's okay, love. He was probably just shocked,"

" I don't know what to do anymore Akira! I don't know what to do to make Yuu look at me like his brother and not a burden!"

Akira didn't know what to say, or think. He glanced at his bearer who gave him a sad smile.

" Don't worry about what he thinks of you, he's an jerk who left you because of an omega,"  Yutaka knew  it was true, a fews days after the storm that killed his parents passed Kouyou and Shou were found on the beach and Yuu took an immediate liking to Kouyou, since then Yuu didn't seek Yutaka for comfort after nightmares, or anything.

Eventually, Yutaka cried himself to sleep, again.

Akira held his sleeping lover as angry thoughts went through his mind.

'  How many times does that sorry excuse of an alpha have to make this innocent beta cry  himself to the brink of exhaustion?'

' What has Yutaka done to receive this kind of ridicule?!'

' Yuu doesn't deserve Yutaka calling him 'brother''

.                                                                            .                                                                    .                                                                          .

Shinya and Die were walking on the North beach laughing, smiling, and holding hands.  For the past month Die has been the happiest and luckiest alpha on the island, just over a month and a half ago Shinya said his heat was late but was later confirmed that he was pregnant by the island medic.  Of course Shinya's parents and Die's younger brother were extremely happy for the two, but no one could match the beaming smile that adorned Die's face everyday.  The omega sighed and leaned his head on Die's shoulder.  Shinya's thoughts were else where but was brought back when Die stopped walking and let out a low growl.

" Die...?"  Shinya squeaked which caused the alpha to look at his mate and give him a reassuring kiss.

" Look over there..."  Die's voice got quiet which Shinya found confusing, but slowly looked the way his mate was. And there they were.

About five people were walking up the beach towards them but didn't seem to notice their presence, there were four alphas and one omega. Shinya whimpered and hid behind Die.  All five were from the mainland just by looking at their clothing, Shinya's fear was making it hard to focus on the approaching group.

" Shinya, honey. I need you to get your father and bearer down here," Shinya was about to protest when Die silenced him with a single gaze, he nodded and retreated to the tree line and up the trail. Die turned back to the strangers who were talking among themselves until a young looking alpha with green and black hair got their attention. The group stopped and stared at Die.

" Who are you? What do you want?" Die demanded in a deep voice that could easily scare anyone who wasn't an alpha.  Except the omega in this group kept staring with wide eyes, for some reason the omega seemed vaguely familiar and so was his mate.

" Are you one of the islanders here?" An alpha with short brown hair and serious face asked with the same demanding tone as Die.

" I am, now answer my question," Die was getting annoyed, civils always seemed to stall a conversation.

" My name is Takashi Sakamoto, or Saga and this is Takemasa Kujou," The alpha said as he gestured to the alpha with the green and black hair, "... and this is Kiyoharu Mori, his mate Hideki, and there son Takanori,"

Die nearly gasped as the alpha introduced the small family, this was Yuu and Yutaka's parents. And there brother.

   ' Oh crap'

.                                         .                                                                .                                                                        .                                 .

Yutaka was groggy from sleep, everything was still kind of blury and he felt hot, really hot.  He looked around and remembered he was in Akira's cabin, the door was open and was letting in cool air, but it felt like blasts of hot air hitting his face.

" A.. Akira, Akira!" Yutaka called out as loud as possibly until he voice started to crack.

Not even a minute passed before Akira was at his boyfriend's side and kissed hid forehead.

" Aki... I don't.. I don't feel good," Tears started to build up as the pain in Yutaka's throat and chest increased. Without waiting or asking, Akira wrapped Yutaka in a light blanket and lifted him princess style.  A cold sweat was running down Yutaka's face and neck despite his skin feeling very warm and his cheeks tinged red.

Akira carried his beta down to the village and brought to their medic Kaz and his assistant Shou, they carefully unwrapped Yutaka and did the typical health checks, the whole time Kaz was worried for the teen and didn't try to hide it.

" Has anything stressful happened within the last twenty-four hours?"

Akira stiffened at the question but continued to pet the side of Yutaka's face as his head laid in his lap.

" Yeah, he and Yuu had some sort of falling out again, he came to me and cried himself to sleep and after he woke up, he was feverish and his pulse was racing,"

Kaz nodded and pressed his fingers the Yutaka's wrist to feel his pulse, he shook his head with a frown, but then leaned over and whispered for Shou to retrieve something.

" Akira, how much do you know about Yutaka's health?"

" Not a lot actually, just that he is more susceptible to illness because he is a beta,"

Kaz shook his head again as Shou returned with a small bottle and cloth. The alpha rubbed the gel from the bottle on his hands before messaging Yutaka's chest with it.  After his chest was covered, Kaz cleaned his hands on the cloth and turned Akira.

" It was a shame that no one told you of his condition, since Yutaka was young he has been suffering from a condition called "Arrhythmia", this causes Yutaka's heart rate to speed up and skip beats with little activity, or stress. Thankfully, when Yutaka was five he became really ill because what happened with his parents, but a doctor from the mainland came here for an isolated vacation, but ended up helping Yutaka,"

Akira was staring wide-eyed and mouth open.

' Why didn't Yutaka tell me!? No, no, don't be mad at him,'

" Fortunately, he hasn't had an attack like this since he was ten, but if his stress levels get too high then it can be fatal,"

Akira thought he was going to cry himself.

' Yuu was causing this stress, this stress that will kill Yutaka is his fault! Damn him!'

Chapter Text

I'm sorry this story is taking so long to update! I've had other works in progress and I've lost the plot with Voyage, BUT don't worry I will pick it up and I will finish Voyage while working on an upcoming series.

In case you didn't read my profile, Most of my stories are in a series unless it's a story under five chapters! So expect most of my works to be in a series!

unfortunately I have decided to put " Hiding and Isolation" on an Orphan account. I'm sorry to those who were enjoying it, but I was just using it to get my creative juices flowing and get my bearings on writing fanfics.

To conclude, expect rather a new chapter or series soon.

Thank you for being patient and putting up with my stupidity!
