"Sophia, slow down!"
Veronique sat up and watched as Elizabeth sprinted across the sand, chasing the hyperactive three-year-old. Hidden away in secluded Étretat, she could finally relax. It also allowed them all time to breathe.
"Run, mon chou!"
"Mama," Sophia yelled. She zigged and zagged, trying to avoid Momma, arms outstretched and chasing her. The sand loose beneath her feet made her stumble as she got further up into the dry areas. "Help!"
Veronique took one look at Sophia as she was swept up in Elizabeth's arms and stuck her tongue out then flopped back onto her beach towel. Thank you, she thought as she looked at the sky, for everything.
