This is completely heartbreaking and breathtakingly hopeful all at once, with its hints of a better future and the kind of overwhelming, wholehearted love that charges into the lair of serial-killing psychopaths with one gun and barely any planning on a near-suicidal rescue mission.

    Summary

It starts out innocently enough, with a drive to celebrate surviving yet another lethal creature who took up residence in Beacon Hills. Somehow, it ends up including marriage licenses and a giant hotel room, despite both Derek and Stiles being single. But what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Doesn't it?

    Summary

Stiles laughs. “The day I become a mail-order bride is the day I eat my hat.”

“You don’t even wear a hat."

“I’ll buy a hat for the occasion,” Stiles says. “A white one with a veil.”

(Stiles doesn't eat a hat, but that's just because he's too busy with his new husband, his five children, his new husband's ex, and a deadly feud with the neighboring ranch)

    Summary

Just after 10 pm, Stiles shows up at the loft. He's panting like it took him an hour to get up the stairs, and he's pale and wrecked and it looks like he's been crying for hours. So, nothing new.

"I need you to do something," he says. "Could you — will you help me?"

in which the Nogitsune may be killing Stiles, but Derek sure as hell isn't going to help it along.

He's sixteen and in the woods on the wrong side of the town-line and he's so fucking fucked.

He knows he's not supposed to run, they teach that to you in preschool (don't run from a Were, back away slowly and walk with care), but they never told you how it would feel, standing alone in the dark with your heart beating in your throat as those glowing eyes tracked you from the shadows.

    Bookmarker's Notes

As soon as I finished this fic, I bookmarked it, and then I went right back to the beginning and read the whole thing over again. I love everything about this AU, imperfect and brittle in parts but so much more beautiful and innocent in others. Stiles and Derek are perfect, insecure and a little awkward and carrying their own hurts and fears--because being a teenager is hard but being a teenager caught up in supernatural affairs (pun intended) is even worse. The supporting cast is stellar: the Sheriff and Talia are awesome, and Peter's quiet wisdom and Laura's teasing and all the adorable little ones round the Hales out. Scott is a good friend and I absolutely adore this Allison. Lydia is almost sweet in her own way, and I appreciate every Boyd appearance I can get.

For all the supernatural elements, this ends up being the simplest and most heartwrenchingly relatable kind of drama there is--the kind of helpless, apocalyptic teenage feeling that stops the breath right in your chest. Thank you for making me care so deeply about these versions of them. Thank you for letting me experience that feeling vicariously through them.
