  1. Summary

What the American male really wants is two things: he wants to be blown by a stranger while reading a newspaper and he wants to be fucked by his buddy when he's drunk. Everything else is society.

    - W. H. Auden, The Table-Talk of W. H. Auden, Alan Ansen, 1990, pp. 80-81

Or, Napoleon Solo begins to know himself, and Ilya Kuryakin makes his own happiness.

  3. Summary

A take on the Alpha/Beta/Omega trope. In which I made up Germanic-root words for the A/O genders because Greek roots were linguistically implausible, the A/O genders are nominally hermaphroditic, and Steve and Bucky are both fitts, which is still illegal pre-WWII.

Currently, the pieces can be read in any order (or not read); they're part of a continuity, not a chronological series.

  5. Summary

Post-Sburb by a number of years, with diplomatic connections well-established between Alternia and Earth, the trolls and the kids try to live their lives.

This seems to involve a lot of dressing up in suits on the parts of certain individuals. Mostly related to how Rose and Kanaya are finally getting married.

(And sometimes it involves some discussions about Dave and Tavros's troll wigglers, and how growing up Earthborn makes them neither trolls nor human. But not yet.)

    Bookmarker's Notes

I read this back in the LJ days and it has really stood up - rereading this many years later shows me all sorts of ways I've been influenced by it that I'd forgotten or not noticed.

(I had forgotten where "[I could apologize] abjectly, if necessary" from the romantic lead came from - I think of it often. In a very good way. Have also gotten this confused for canon on multiple occasions.)

    Summary

The Bowerbird wasn't playing fair; Jack couldn't debate these pieces of paper. He couldn't tell pieces of paper and a growing pile of feathers that he, too, remembered the rare treat that was eating a single piece of tropical fruit in the heavy heat of a Christmas afternoon, stickying his best suit of clothes, which had been so clean and pressed for church that morning.

(In which Inspector Jack Robinson is having a fairly uneventful year, divorce notwithstanding, until he acquires a lady doctor for a drinking buddy and receives a series of flirtatious notes from a jewel thief.)

"If I had to have magic ritual sex with someone," Blue said thoughtfully, "Ronan would be near the top of the list."

"That is less helpful than you seem to think it is," said Adam.

    Summary

"Did you know I'm worth a quarter herd of bantha?”

At Jyn’s sharp inhale, Baze said, without opening his eyes, “My husband is an unrepentant liar. He is barely worth one sick bantha, much less a healthy quarter herd.”

In which Chirrut and Baze have spent more than half their lives together, and Chirrut likes to spin stories of how they were married.

    Summary

When he sees him for the first time, after the beach, Chirrut is still grinning, beatific, pale blue fingers outstretched to a colony of small, horned children, offering to tell them their futures in exchange for valuables he can no longer collect, scattering Koans about the Force like pennies into a bowl.
