Summary
yusuf has never been more glad regarding his own habit of accidentally holding at almost all times than he is tonight, blinking up at the stars, quite literally burning through the last of his newfound pocket stash with a man who is kind of his boss.
he shouldn't be surprised at all, really, that someone who squints all the time and pioneers in a business built on dreams isn't a stranger to cannabis, yusuf doesn't say but thinks pretty loudly.

Summary
arthur enforces some inconvenient form of near-irony: he laughs, for the first time eames has ever witnessed, now that eames has finally given up the pursuit of attempting to enjoy any aspect of his mandatory company.
arthur's face changes dramatically when he smiles, eames notes with the attention of a man who makes his living knowing faces. he'd even go so far as to admit it's an improvement.

he used to communicate by records, sometimes. they'd fight in the morning and she'd walk in that afternoon to a crooning nick lucas number begging her forgiveness from dickie's antique victor orthophonic. that's what she misses most, in her silent american apartment filled with cat hair and cabernet francs; someone to fight with and something to listen to.

Summary
it's probably love that drives it all, michael thinks, until he wakes up with an incapacitating hangover to a trashed living room reeking of lighter fluid and a post-it (and that's why you always leave a) note on his forearm reading "broke your window sorry" in a familiar scrawl. bluths don't really "do" love, he concludes instead; figures the closest he may ever get is care plus obligation.
five gen vignettes; if the bluth kids are getting along, they're probably under the influence of something.

Summary
In which Walt gets a surprise present and Jesse fundamentally misunderstands the nature of a children's show, and, incidentally, probably the nature of Walt, as well.

Bookmarker's Notes
He held it up by the scruff of its neck. “It’s a blue dog.” He was feeling low on whimsy at the moment. Writing two dozen thank-you cards on sunflower stationary had drained it all out of him. And a blue stuffed dog was a novelty he didn’t need: if anything, it was an insult, something childish and demeaning, something that must have come from one of his students. Walt hated the feeling of a joke that he hadn’t understood: it was like something caught between his teeth that no one had told him about. It was an embarrassment.

Bookmarker's Notes
He kisses like she remembers being kissed in high school, a little too much tongue and his hand sliding a little too clumsily up her skirt. It makes her feel equal parts young and old.
She wonders if this is the way he always is, or if she just brings that out in him, the fumbling, the need to fill every silence. She can't imagine Walt tolerating that for long.
"What did he do to you?" she asks again.

Cobb has trouble adjusting to life as not an international criminal. Arthur doesn't call, until he does.

Bookmarker's Notes
Cobb’s first week in California, he’d borrowed some sedative from Miles, telling him he was undergoing some Somnacin withdrawal. He awoke in a stopped train, and had wandered for hours until he found his elevator door, gate closed in the middle of a wheat field. He started at the top and worked down.
Each level of his cage was abandoned, ripped apart, glass and torn cloth and stains in each. The elevator screeched and sparked. He couldn’t reach the basement.

"Four times Eames told Arthur he loved him, and one time he really meant it."

Bookmarker's Notes
The shelves in this flat are erratically filled – Arthur likes things neat but not impersonal. A coffee cup on the table means that Eames is there, a coffee-colored ring left on the table means he is staying for an indefinite amount of time.
Eames hasn’t decided whether he will leave a mark this time, but he reads the newspaper in the adjacent couch in the inadequate lighting. He also watches Arthur, whose lips move ever so subtly as he reads (this is a sign that the novel is in French, Eames has learned).
They don’t have to work for a long time, Eames muses, sipping his coffee. Saito made sure they could have anything in the world they wanted, but Eames doubts money will get him there. Arthur looks up from his book. Eames thinks it might be poetry. Eames always thinks it’s poetry.
