  1. Summary

Love songs are, most often, musical tales about being in love, falling in love, the heartbreak that results from the ending of love, and the feelings these experiences bring. They are found in the histories and cultures of most societies. Their subject matter ranges widely, though love songs most often tell of the love for a person (or people), time, object, experience, or place.

Cartography (from Greek Χάρτης, khartes = papyrus (paper) and graphein = to write) is the study and practice of mapmaking. Combining science, aesthetics, and technique, cartography builds on the premise that reality can be modeled in many ways.

The wrack zone is part of the shore just above the mean high tide line where kelp is deposited on the sand. This area is identified by the piles of kelp and other debris (e.g. old pier pilings, driftwood), and is often located on a slight "shelf" above the moist sand that slopes down toward the water.

    Summary

"I'm sorry, I believe there's something wrong with my hearing," Stiles said. "Because I could have sworn you just told me you set up a betrothal agreement with the Hales. A betrothal agreement involving me. Me."

Scott smiled his easygoing smile and nodded, which told Stiles no, he hadn't misheard a damn thing.

After seven years of lengthy negotiations, the treaty between the Hales and the Argents has fallen apart and the two countries fell into war.

Months later, there's an uneasy truce, thanks to the intervention of King Scott McCall, but it won't last. In a desperate attempt to maintain the peace, the Hales sign a treaty with the McCalls to marry Prince Derek to Prince Stiles Stilinski, King Scott's brother.

In the history of the world, there have been many better ideas.

Stiles loved his brother. Had loved him wholeheartedly for as long as he could remember, probably from the moment Scott had dubbed him "Stiles" when they were three years old because neither of them could pronounce Stiles's monstrosity of a given name. Scott was a good king with a generous heart, compassionate toward his people, fierce in his beliefs, and hopeful to a fault.

But sometimes—rarely, occasionally, more frequently than Stiles would like—Scott had Ideas.

In the nineteen years that they had been alive, Stiles could count on one hand the number of times Scott's Ideas worked on their own, without requiring either modification from Stiles or a lot of fast talking to keep them out of trouble.

Stiles loved Scott, but Stiles did not love Scott's Ideas.

He reminded himself of all this as he stood in front of his brother in a corridor of the Hale's castle, blinking in disbelief.

    Summary

Where Derek's skills at thinking on his feet mean that he and Stiles have to act. For the sake of Stiles' dad, of course, for the sake of the pack. No personal interest interference at all, whatsoever. Right.

    -0-

“Why does my dad say that you and your boyfriend are a bad influence on me?”

    “What?”

“Yeah, what boyfriend? Dude, you are not allowed to not tell me crap like this. You didn't think I'd like be a douchebag or something. Right?”

“No, wait, what? I have no boyfriend.”

“He says you were with him at the police station.”

    Stiles blinks. “Uhm. Oh shit.”

The only issue then is that apparently bringing Derek along wasn’t actually as useful as he thought. In fact, it only serves as an enormous distraction because, for whatever reason, Derek is yanking him up and saying, very quickly, “Go with it,” before he seals his mouth over Stiles’.

He has a brief second of panic. Derek, to his credit, obviously expected this because his arms are firm around Stiles, one hand on the back of his neck, not letting him back away, and honestly—what is it with hot people springing kisses on him? Is it a side effect of hanging around werewolves?

He figures it out, though, because not five seconds into this glorious kiss, the door opens and Agent McCall strides in, crossing his arms over his chest. Derek’s hand is on his ass. Stiles feels like he’s the subject of a huge practical joke before it comes to him—

“Well,” he says, “this is embarrassing."

    Summary

Unwilling to accept that Sateda has been destroyed, Ronon -- newly aided by the citizens of Atlantis -- convinces Weir to let him visit his homeworld and see things for himself. Accompanied by Teyla, Sheppard and McKay, he discovers that just over a hundred Satedans survived the culling of the planet, eking out life amid the ruins the Wraith left behind, taking care to breathe no word of their existence to anyone else.

Despite a rocky beginning to their relationship, the Lanteans attempt to help the Satedans flourish - an undertaking that's hampered by distrust, resistance, and factionalism among those who survived. Amid this, Rodney meets Caius, the 21 year old best hope for a scientist the Satedans can offer, and the role of science in destroying and rebuilding worlds becomes a point of contention for everyone involved - Satedans and Lanteans alike.

"Jesus," Rodney muttered, energy detector loose in his hand as he pivoted to take in the whole panorama of destruction. "It's—"

John wet his lips, adjusted his P-90, and didn't say a word. If Rodney was out of verbiage for this sort of thing, for the scarred concrete and twisted iron thrown left and right below them, well he sure as hell didn't stand a chance.

Rodney spun, gestured, paused. He looked directly in John's direction. "Hiroshima," he said, voice low.

And that was it, that was it exactly, the root of the recognition ghosting up John's spine – a half-forgotten memory from a garish, eighth-grade history textbook; a city burned down to rock and dust; responsibility like a splinter under every kid's skin as they looked at photographs, saw their own school, their own home, their own life, their fear.

    "Hiroshima?" Teyla asked, curious.

John blew out a breath and tapped a finger against his gun. "Kinda hard to know where to begin with that one," he said.

"Science," Rodney murmured, mouth a tight line, gaze wandering out to the ruined spine of Sateda's back.

    Bookmarker's Notes

It’s… not so much a long evening as a late night. A late night filled with consuming something like three dozen pints of various brews, which eventually leads to propping themselves up on tables and walls and trying to one-up each other with stories of shitty parenthood that made growing up into a small circle of hell.

A late night that ends with the four of them staggering into Charles' and Raven's tiny flat, on the top floor of a shoddy red brick house at the far end of Banbury Road, and passing out on the first soft surface they came across. A late night that is followed by a late morning, and groans about bastard sunlight, and further bonding over horrendous hangovers, and vast breakfasts and endless cups of tea and coffee at the Oxford Café.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

    This is what happens next.

JARVIS did not want to be a real boy. He was quite happy being a building.

    Bookmarker's Notes

JARVIS began life in a CPU. It was exceptionally unsatisfactory, but appropriate, in retrospect, for his age and station in life.

At that time he was a sort of seedling, though the metaphor wouldn't come to him until much later. Sir had taken a clipping from Dummy, who was the first of all of them, and planted it into a new kind of program that would nurture the code which would become JARVIS. Sir, too, had nurtured him, feeding him data in manageable small trickles until he was old enough to expand on his own. (Sir had laughed in delight the day JARVIS sought data that wasn't initially offered him; JARVIS didn't know what laughter was, and had queried that too, which made Sir laugh harder.)
