'I’m fine.'
Of course, he isn’t fine. He hates almost everything at the moment, from the New York City skyline that’s so different from how he remembers it, to the bits and pieces of the cellular phone he had smashed against the counter in a misguided fit of rage and frustration. He hates inflation and politics. He hates people acting too busy to actually watch where they’re going. He hates television and radio and billboard signs.
He hates the 21st century, in all of its detached glory.

Darcy has been watching over Peter ever since, and working for Jane and partially for SHIELD from the comfort and safety of the tower, playing games with Pete when he wants her to and being snarky when Tony or Steve calls to check up on their kid.

Summary
The first day Peter is at school, Daddy doesn’t want to leave and keeps talking to Mr. Rocher with a mean voice and a hard stare that he keep for people he doesn’t like. Peter doesn’t make out a lot of what he says, because his Cap keeps him by his side, going through his bag to make sure that he has all his pencils, his notebook that has his name written across the top, and dinosaur erasers including the pterodactyl, because that one’s his favorite; it’s green. Cap also keeps looking at Daddy every so often, rolling his eyes before helping Peter out of his jacket settling it on the back of a chair and making sure his shoes are properly tied.

Summary
Thor sets Peter and Gwen down on the ground so that they and the four children that had been following them can go play on one of the jungle gyms that are scattered around the large, spacious room. Natasha catches Peter quickly and gives him five birthday spankings, causing the little boy to squeal and twist before she puts him down again and shoots Clint with a dart all within the span of a minute. Steve drops down next to Peter with yet another Nerf gun—and seriously, where did those come from—and helps him aim at Natasha. He misses but not by much and then Steve is hauling him away toward the jungle gym before she can return fire.

Summary
Steve enters Tony’s lab at a little passed two with two quesadillas on a plate. Tony has been down here since Clint and Thor took Peter to go see a new kids’ movie at the cinema, and Steve knows that if he doesn’t bring food down, Tony will likely drink his energy drinks until the cows come home.
He’s expecting for Tony to be elbow deep in some project, one of his cars, one of his suits, something new and innovative for his company. It’s usually what Tony gets up to when he’s down in the lab. However, when the door opens, he’s not assaulted by AC/DC, Black Sabbath, or Judas Priest and he instantly feels a little thrown. There’s no sound of tools and Dummy and You are chittering to each other in the corner instead of helping their creator.
It takes a second for any noise to come, and when it does, it’s the voice of a woman, obviously happy and coming through a speaker.

Summary
Tony has been held by Stane since his escape from Afghani terrorists, marked dead in the eyes of the world while Stane is free to use his mind, inventions, and company as he sees fit. Tony feels there's nothing he can do and has resigned himself to death to save those he loves. That would be when JARVIS lets Captain America stumble into his old lab.
Steve has been wandering Avengers Mansion in the steps of a ghost, seeing empty spaces, and recurring oddities that mean nothing to anyone but him. He doesn't know who left them, or why the ghost lingers. It isn't even until he enters a dusty lab that things start to fall into place as he meets Anthony, a computer program named for its creator Anthony Stark.

There was never any actual violence, nothing dramatic or traumatizing, so Tony doesn’t know why ancient history can occasionally make him feel nauseous, or why some of the most innocuous and nonthreatening things that come out of Steve’s mouth can make his breath stutter.
