Summary
[SPOILERS]
It takes Jim Kirk a while to recover from dying.
Spock learns the curve of the line of Jim’s jaw. He tells Jim everything he has, save one topic, which he avoids deliberately. He observes Jim lying motionless and listens to the steady beep of the monitors, watches the trendline of his heart, and wonders at how someone so full of an urgent vitality could become so very still.

Summary
Kirk’s skin is cool to the touch, his hair softer than Spock imagined, and the stiffness he expects to feel at the base of Kirk’s neck at this unexpected contact is strangely absent. Kirk shifts, lets out a noisy breath, and leans into the touch. Spock’s fingers tingle. He finds there is some comfort in touching Kirk like this. Fascinating.
He moves closer, drawn to Kirk until there is almost no space between.
Into Darkness scene fill/extension, after Kirk's speech at the anniversary ceremony to the end of the movie.

Summary
Jim deals with the aftermath of Star Trek: Into Darkness—not very well, unfortunately. Bones is worried. Meanwhile, Spock keeps making appearances in Jim's dreams, which really isn't as fun as it sounds.

Summary
It’s as if McCoy’s departure has sucked the oxygen from the room. Spock suddenly finds himself at a loss, as if the sheer magnitude of all he wants to say and do, the measure of it, is too much to put into words.

Summary
This is not exactly what Jim thought the 'exploring strange new worlds and exotic civilizations' was about. Also, Vulcans are kind of crazy. Jim and Spock go through a alien ritual, which, yes, changes everything -- he's hoping for the better. Spock just wants to get through this with his sanity, if not his dignity, mostly intact.

Spock met Jim when he was 7 and Jim was 6. It has since been generally agreed that this was a mistake (or: the one where they grow up together and things are simultaneously better and worse for it).

Summary
Jim Kirk was a legend before he was even an hour old, and legends are never men. They are tragedies and heroes and cautionary tales and they never grow up or grow old, they simply are.
Jim Kirk is a pain in Spock's ass.

Just in case they need a spark, Stiles concentrates, believes, really hard when he pushes each seed down into its little cup, and when the first new-green sprouts push up out of the soil and reach toward the sun, it does feel like magic.
The first time he really gets his hands in the earth, dirt jammed so deep under his fingernails he's never going to be able to scrub it out, back aching, frantic brain quiet for once, he knows it is.
