    Summary

Shortly after the confrontation at the grocery store, Buck drops the lawsuit and leaves LA. He breaks his lease, disconnects his cell phone and disappears.

After almost 2 years with no contact, the 118 has mostly accepted that they'll never see Buck again. All except for Eddie.

His faith is rewarded by a frantic knock on his door the day after his welcome home party after the shooting.

Is Buck there to stay, or is he just stopping by? Why did he leave in the first place? How will his sudden presence affect Eddie & Ana's new relationship?

    Summary

“Oh Buck,” Eddie sighs, almost-silently. “What are we going to do with you?”

‘Keep me,’ Buck thinks desperately, even as coherency struggles past his grip. ‘Please, don’t let me ruin this. Just keep me right here, with you.’

    OR

Buck survived a tsunami, but it's this - the distance, the cold looks, Eddie - it's this that's going to kill him.

    Summary

“It’s always pretty fun to see a former fuckboy from your grad school era bootycall list all domestic and settled down.”

“Right, uh,” Buck’s brain is very quickly piecing together the slow onceovers, no doubt cataloguing the matching sleep-soft sweatpants and cozy hoodies and unbrushed hair at breakfast-time on a weekday. The singular witnessed conversation regarding co-purchased home cleaning products. The lack of personal space followed by the hasty exit when made to interact with an ex of sorts. “He’s, uh, he’s actually my best friend.”

“Hey man, I love that for you. That’s the best way to do it, you know? Wish everyone got that in their relationship.” She's smiling very warmly at him. Buck’s sweating again.

“He’s my partner,” Buck stresses, as much emphasis on the word ‘partner’ as he can manage.

or, two boy best friends and an ex lover walk into a grocery store. everyone is on their normalest behaviour.

    Summary

“Right,” Ravi says. “Then you have the newlywed. Pretty much impossible to even flirt with, because they’ve got this—glow around them,” he gestures to Chim, “all happy and in love with that pink hearts tunnel-vision for only their wife.”

Chim twists the golden band on his finger slowly. “Huh,” he says. “It’s the ring.”

“Wait a minute,” Buck says, frowning. “Hang on. She served me because I—because I’m—listen. I know it’s been a minute but I’m not some hideous beast just because I sang badly. She would totally flirt with me even if I had a ring on.”

“Sure, bud,” Chim pats his back benevolently. “Sure.”

or, buck’s bad at karaoke, chimney should know better than to indulge in ring-related shenanigans, and eddie’s coping response to raging homosexual feelings is fair, given circumstances

    Summary

The dying light catches the hair on Buck’s stomach, glinting where it smatters across the firm, broad planes of his belly—Eddie resolutely does not pay heed to his monkey brain’s kneejerk response of bite—crowding thick and snaking down into the waistband of his shorts. Eddie’s not going to pass out, he’s going to die.

“Eds,” Buck grins, catching sight of him. “Ready to get your ass handed to you?” He scoops up the basketball resting on the bench, letting it twirl effortlessly on a fingertip. Eddie is not going to pass out or die, God doesn’t love him enough for either of those things, Eddie is going to chub into the world’s least concealable boner in these baggy-ass shorts that won’t hide shit and then he’s going to have to ask Chim’s friends to mercy-kill him.

or, buck's good at basketball, eddie's trying really hard not to commit an act of public indecency about it, and maybe, just maybe, a slightly bloody beachside pick-up game can be the start of something new
