Summary
Danny Brière had not seen Sidney Crosby since a concussion and a broken jaw had ended their respective seasons. They didn't quite run in the same circles, after all, the whole Penguins and Flyers rivalry made that somewhat antithetical. That may or may not have been one of the reasons why everyone on the team was a little bewildered when the man just walked into their locker room, wanting to come out onto the ice with them.
As if three kids and a romantic relationship with a teammate weren't enough to deal with, now Danny also was responsible for saving Sid from himself. Just a normal Wednesday in Philadelphia.

Summary
Although multidimensionality suggests infinite outcomes in an infinite number of universes, each universe can produce only one outcome. Or least that was the theory as far as Mulder had always considered it, even if Scully would never agree with with.
Merlin on the other hand had come to hate the idea of destiny and anything related to it over the past year. Too much stuff had happened that didn't make sense and with the dragon dead, finding his own way seemed like an insurmountable obstacle.
Maybe time could take care of itself, one way or another.

Sidney is 16 when he meets Alexander Ovechkin for the first time at World Juniors and 18 when they meet again in the NHL. Everyone thinks they're destined to hate each other, but after that one night in the hotel in Grand Forks, Sid himself isn't so sure that is bound to happen. Six years later he could say he has final proof of it, if only his head wouldn't hurt so damn much.
