Summary
Dean remembers Texas as blackland stretching in marker-thick strips of vivid brown and black, broken with the sprawling metroplexes of Dallas and San Antonio and Houston; farms spread with the yellow tops of maize waving in pre-autumn winds, threshers moving complacently through the fields with drowsy men in hats waving at the road. He remembers green and gold fields dotted with cows, half-year calves running on the outskirts of the herds. He remembers these were what he saw between jobs, lives being lived that had nothing to do with creeping twilight and sleeping only behind salt circles and ritual wards.

Normally I don't enjoy alot of Post-Apocalyptic media (I'm paranoid enough as it is) but this was beautifully readable and well done.

Summary
When Major John Sheppard shoots Colonel Sumner, he thinks of only one thing: keep the creature feeding on him from learning their secrets. He doesn't think that with that one act, he'll become Alpha of the pack in the Atlantis expedition.
That alone is weird enough, but John still has to navigate his new werewolf pack, military politics, witches, evil space vampires, Genii, and Replicators. There's the bonus complication of the grief, joy, wonder, and terror that is life in the Pegasus Galaxy. Add to that his frustration with--and maybe even feelings for--Dr Rodney McKay, and now the lone-wolf life John once enjoyed is even further behind him than it was the moment he stepped through the stargate and emerged in the city of Atlantis.

Summary
When an alien race subjugate earth Darcy is content to stay in New Mexico and hide until it's over. When her boss' not-boyfriend and his super-powered boy band blaze into town expecting sanctuary and assistance, all her plans are shot to hell.
Instead Darcy finds herself fighting aliens, making new and terrifying friends and adding a whole lot more embarrassing moments to the list of things that will be trotted out in toasts at her wedding or funeral (whichever comes first).
She also appears to be the only one not getting laid, which proves that whatever Gods are out there, they hate her.
