    Summary

Ren lifts his legs up onto a nearby chair, elevating them from the ground. He looks so relaxed, back lengthy and stretched out in the soft grass, feet crossed up on the chair -- like he’s at home, lounging around in his own space -- not in the middle of the quad, with an arm curled behind his head for a pillow.

The crisp autumn breeze drifts over them, ruffling Ren’s hair, making him close his eyes against the faint wind. His eyelashes are dark and long, and they flutter over his mole-dotted cheeks. Sprawled out and reclining like this, Hux can’t help but think of Ren as a Titian, a Manet. It’s absolutely absurd.

Hux has reading to do -- but at this point, he can’t even remember what subject it was for.

One of the sweetest and most touching little fics I've read in the Kylux fandom. Insightful and observant, with sadness underneath, and very in character for young Hux and Ben. Really gorgeous.

This is a saga in a way - a story of becoming an adult and overcoming all the obstacles real life can bring.
I cried, I laughed, I was scared for Andy and Sid.
    Gah.

    Summary

Kylo hates his job, his life, his hot neighbor Hux, cats, turning thirty, and everything, not necessarily in that order.

Well, maybe cats -- and Hux -- are OK. Whatever. Being thirty still blows.

    Bookmarker's Notes

This story is exactly what I'm searching for in fics - true and painful and very beautifully written, with so many real, heart-clenching observations it makes me want to weep. I love how broken and not-adjusted this Kylo is - despite changing his name and trying hard to glue together some pieces of himself and his life, even though they barely stick. He is drifting in the most painful way that really gets to me.

And Hux - all my love to this Hux, I can't say much more lest I spoil it for the readers.

I LOVED Rey too, and Han and Leia and Phasma - every single one of them was written in the most ideal way, multidimensional and spot-on. The dialogs were SO REAL too! So much was lost in the miscommunication <3

PLUS, MY GOD, HOW HOT THE SEX WAS. JLJASLJHDASLJKHD I Cannot.
    This story is just MAGNIFICENT.

THIS STORY THAT HAS RUINED ME.

I never cared much about Star Wars - sure, I loved Han and thought that Luke was cute and I enjoyed the effects in the new ones but I was not obsessed in the way hard-core fans are. I saw the Force Awakens and LOVED it - the story, Rey as a character, the pretty of Poe Dameron, cuteness of BB8 and the fun of the banter and all. Still - I'd NEVER consider reading a Star Wars fic, much less a Kylo Ren / General Hux one...

But then I started it. And the first, small part of this series, Life Sentence, No Cellmate was SO MUCH FUN! Entertaining and hot and very well written, a bit D/s, a little bit PWP. A fast, clever story that I thoroughly enjoyed while not getting too deep into it. I would still rec it if it were only this one, BUT...
BUT then I started the second part of the series - CEASEFIRE - and, OH MY GOD, I didn’t see my doom coming! /o\

In a way it’s a hurt/comfort story, focused on feelings, mental development, and the emotional journey of two very lost people. Everything is highly believable and very much in-character. It's also extremely well paced and I love how Hollycomb is able to change POVs (from General Hux’s in the first instalment to Kylo Ren’s in the second and then alternating between them in the third part) because they are NOTHING alike and it’s not an easy thing to do!

Ceasefire is beautufilly, painfully intimate. Quite peaceful in a way (although the impending doom is almost palpable), isolated and showing the emerging “something” between the characters, who are mostly just trying to survive, in every meaning of this word, push through and who are also falling in love so deeply, OH MY GOD!...

I cried like stupid while reading it. Not because of grand things happening but because of small remarks, very well constructed and thought through sentences, and heartclenching glimpses of the past and the future.

I love how both Kylo Ren and General Hux are so amazingly flawed! They are both oblivious idiots, stubborn and twisted and damaged beyond hope of repairing but they are "made" for each other - even in the physical way because the size difference is done so well here - with overgrown Kylo Ren with limbs everywhere and tiny, lean Hux. They are fitting together so well, gaaaah! UNF.

ps. I also want to rec this story to every parent out there because it shows how children can be manipulated and groomed and programmed into monsters. It shows, in a very painful way, what can happen if your child falls into a relationship online with a dangerous and clever person.
