Never would I have thought that this would work, but if you squint just a little, it does, and it's a wonderfully sad, dark, achy piece of writing.

The twelve days of Wintermas are the best time of the year besides the Hunger Games! ...Well, if you're a good Capitol citizen, that is. If you're in the districts, it simply wasn't meant for you.

This is so much more dark and interesting than the fluff promised by the title. Really worthwhile commentary on modern U.S. culture via the world of Panem, and a disturbing look at the power of propaganda in perpetuating and justifying oppression of others.

Wonderful Cinna voice and POV. A lovingly and patiently detailed explanation of how Cinna became the revolutionary we see in canon, how he came to awareness of his privileged life and the need to rid Panem of The Hunger Games and all its associated horrors.
