Literary Tarot as Fannish Meta; or, John Winchester Meets a Wicked Pack of Cards by Malkin Grey (malkingrey)
Supernatural

Summary
This was originally posted at Making Light, as part of the literary tarot readings parlor game in one of the threads over there. (Short explanation of the game: the idea is to do a tarot reading for a real or imagined personage, using works of literature -- broadly defined -- as the cards.) I'm reposting it here for completeness's sake, and because I think it stands alone as a piece of Supernatural meta.

Summary
General Disclaimer, Cautionary Notices, and Acknowledgment: Not mine, not for money. Spoilers through series pilot. Occasional violence and bad language. Blame skyfyre; she talked me into this.
Fair warning: I have done shameless and premeditated damage to every version, source, and analogue of Hamlet from Shakespeare to Saxo Grammaticus and back again. This isn't meant to be the real Europe in the real 16th century, either, but someplace more akin to the fantastical version of it that we see reflected in the wavery mirror of Shakespeare's inventions. (Among the many other distinctions, both Denmark and Norway at that time were ruled by members of the House of Oldenburg, instead of the fictitious dynasties that Shakespeare wrote about and that I have unabashedly stolen.) Also, I have made a whole lot of stuff up.
