Summary
The sheriff suspects something going on between Stiles and Derek. Stiles is pretty adamant that that's ridiculous (little does he know that Derek might actually be interested). Meanwhile, there's a new monster in B-Hills, an old friend of the Stilinski family is back in town, and Derek is becoming a responsible adult. No, really.
General spoilers for the show/characters post-s2. I've been trying to avoid spoilers for s3, but that's really hard so some have filtered into this story - this is set about a year after 2x12, so the end of their Junior year of high school. Stiles is still underage (17).

“Can I buy you breakfast?” Derek blurted, then cringed. Where had that come from? He wasn’t even close to impulsive. And the last time he asked someone out… he couldn’t actually remember. Holy crap, that was pathetic.
Stiles blinked, honey-whiskey-golden eyes huge in the dim light. “What?”
“I woke up you up at two in the morning,” Derek said, more slowly. “I – you know, food?”
“Oh.” Stiles shook his head. “I have to get up at five and I stayed up stupid late as it is. I’m gonna be a mess tomorrow already and–”
“Nobody gives a fuck, Romeo,” somebody shouted from outside and Stiles jerked so hard he cracked his head on Derek’s windowsill.
Or: The one where Stiles is a cop and Derek doesn't sleep.

Regardless of his sadly lacking social circle, Stiles was going to have to get some physical contact or he was going to explode. Seriously. It’d be messy and Derek would probably become even more emotionally constipated having to clean up little bits of Stiles from his pristine walls and furniture.
