When the Arena falls and Brutus dies, Lyme leaves for District 13. It's soon clear that Alma Coin is less than perfect, but with her best friend dead and no other options, Lyme vows to make the best of her decision. Meanwhile, Brutus' youngest Victor joins President Snow in the Capitol to be the symbol of loyalty and the voice of her people as District 2 prepares for war.
The twist: when Brutus fell, the hovercraft team who retrieved his corpse fought to resuscitate him, refusing to stand by and watch their hero die. A second rebellion — split off from District 13, fearing that Alma Coin had gone too far — saw their opportunity to gather fighters and a potentially valuable symbol, and recruit them to fight against both the Capitol and District 13.
The Victors of District 2 are now split along five fronts: Enobaria in custody in the Capitol; Lyme and Claudius in District 13; Petra, Ronan and Odin in the Capitol; Brutus and the Peacekeepers who turned traitor to save him in District 8; and the rest at home in District 2, mourning and waiting and fearing whatever is to come.
Some things will change, some will not, but one thing is true: District 2's Victors have the chance to make it out alive.

The girl sits hunched in the corner, knees pulled up to her chest, arms wrapped around around her legs, forehead pressed against her thighs. Her limbs are scrawny where they poke out from beneath the thin, dotted gown, and bruises ring her wrists and forearms in patterns of five. Cole makes a slow circle, notes the knobs of her spine, the hair like bristles of a brush. He hears Varric’s voice in his head, joking, a jest to mask the jolt of horror: "Someone needs to give this kid a sandwich."
A strange rift in Skyhold brings Cole somewhere new. (The pain is louder here, magnified like shouting in a cavern where the walls shout back. Cole leans against the smooth grey wall and closes his eyes against the lights — bright, buzzing, blazing, the lights like shouting too, screaming in his eyes, too bright for torchlight, brighter still than veilfire, like staring at the sun but angry. What is this place?) The former Ghost of the White Spire finds himself stalking new halls, searching for the girl whose pain tore a hole in the fabric of the world.
Late night, watching television
But how'd we get in this position?
It's way too soon, I know this isn't love
But I need to tell you something...
“I like her,” Devon says, shooting a look at Brutus to make sure it’s okay. “She’s not what I’m used to.”
Brutus just laughs, and he tugs Devon down beside him onto the porch swing. “I’m sure she ain’t,” he says. “But that’s good. If you can handle Misha you can handle anybody.”
Every future power couple starts somewhere; for Devon and Misha it starts with painting, sparring, a dead girl, and an angry former classmate at a bar.

Man hands on misery to man.
It deepens like a coastal shelf.
Get out as early as you can,
And don’t have any kids yourself

Juvie teaches Wynonna three things: how to take a sucker punch, how to keep her mouth shut, and that if the zombie apocalypse happens, she should hit up a pharmacy and grab all the birth control she can before anything else because she can find food and water and guns or what the hell ever but she is never, ever, ever doing that to a helpless human being.
Wynonna's complicated relationships with sex, pregnancy and the concept of motherhood start early. An exploration of Wynonna's early years, leading up to that moment in "Whiskey Lullaby" when the demon offers her a choice.

Antiope loves Diana with a fire that only battle has ever matched, but she will not fold herself small, make herself smooth and palatable like cutting off the crusts from a piece of bread or plucking out the bones from a fish so that Diana can swallow her safely. Her niece will take her as she is, and will not choke, whether Hippolyta likes it or not.
Once, Diana asks Antiope what she knows of men.
Or: For every story Diana has heard, there are a thousand she has not.

Tributes, victors, mentors, people who love them. Their lives, their deaths; who remembers, who doesn't.
Character exploration, missing scenes and backstory for canon and original characters: how the District 2 Career Centre makes its tributes, how they win their Games and how their mentors put them back together. How some rebel, some don't and some never get the chance.
We grew up in golden light
Every chance to get it right
What did we do with it?
It’s gone, what I had back then is gone
Can’t get it back again
Sorry for the things we should have done
Sorry for the kids we pushed too far
Sorry now for all the lonely hearts who can’t move on because
For love, for dreams in the night
For days to come when we’d be all right
I can’t remember why I did the things I did
I was just a kid
All the lines we knew back then, they now are faded
All the laws we once obeyed, they have betrayed us
People that I used to hate, I hardly remember
Forgive the children we once were

Alma Coin's dictatorial tendencies don't go unnoticed by everyone; over the years, a faction splits from her rebellion and seeds itself through the districts. They have no resources, weapons, or strongholds, but they do have eyes and ears. And so they infiltrate and gather intelligence from both sides, waiting until the time when they can save Panem from President Snow and Alma Coin.
When Brutus is pulled from the 75th Arena and accidentally resuscitated by a squad of District 2 Peacekeepers, the second resistance takes a chance. Coin considers District 2 an acceptable sacrifice -- a convenient scapegoat, full of loyalist traitors -- but after all, one man's trash is another man's treasure.
A fix-it that isn't; nothing is rosy, nothing is easy, but maybe a few lives will be saved along the way. Alternate Universe - Canon Divergence, beginning with Part 2.

Nick Fury brings together some of Panem's best and brightest for a Hunger Game that will, hopefully, kick off the Rebellion and end President Snow's reign of tyranny. But how optimistic is he being? Can people really change? And how much sacrifice is too much?
