Lance hadn't decided if Merlin was immune to Arthur's brilliant moods, or if he simply had a knack for taking the piss out of their Captain when he was having a particularly bad day. The rest of the team had learned to scatter when Arthur woke up on the wrong side of his bed, but Merlin, him, he was a brave man, because he would cheerfully wander through the minefield that was the sometimes-unpredictable Pendragon temper without any sort of protection whatsoever.

It was love at first sight, and Merlin knew it — when it came to the flat, that was. Merlin wasn't anything like as clear about the man he was going to have to live with.

"Sorry, Gwen, it's just... he's so frustrating and I have to live with him and see him every day and he just sort of... takes over the room, when he's in it and he's impossible to ignore and I have to see him every single day!"

Gwen sighed and put an arm around him. "It sounds to me... has it occurred to you that part of the problem may be that you're a little bit infatuated?"

"I know I am!" Merlin wailed. "That's the whole problem! This flat is so perfect, Gwen, you have no idea — it might just be the one true love of my life and I can't give it up, no matter if I have to share it with the most irritating man in London!"

"That's..." Gwen paused. "That's not quite what I meant, actually."

    Merlin looked at her blankly.

"Oh, ho," Gwaine said, giving Arthur a lopsided grin. "I was wrong, Perce. You're not my accountant."

Gwaine gestured toward Arthur with his blaster.

    "He is."

"Actually," Arthur said, taking the opening for what it was, "I'm offering to be your bank."

The look of confusion on Gwaine's scruffy face was priceless. His blasters were lowered a fraction of a centimetre. "What?"

"You never complained about how I waved my glow-stick around before, My Lord," the Jedi said, his voice pitched so that only Arthur could hear him. Arthur shot him an appalled glare, turning just in time to see that familiar smirk on even more familiar lips before the Jedi pulled the cowl of his cloak over his head, shadowing his face.

"Shut up, Merlin," Arthur said, trying and failing to suppress his grin. Gods. Arthur had missed him.

"You're gorgeous when you're stroppy." Arthur's fingers latched onto one of Merlin's belts, but any attempt to tug him closer was swatted away. "And you're gorgeous when you're laid bare on our bed, but you're bloody irresistible when you hide the shadow-marks and wear civilian clothes. You know my weakness is when you try to blend in with the rest of the universe --"

Arthur got a good look at the logo silk-screened on the front of Merlin's shirt, and blinked.

"What is -- What are you wearing?"
