    Summary

Lydia has a plan: attend college, study the biological makeup of werewolves, win prizes, and wear amazing shoes. She does not expect to make friends with Stiles. Or flirt with Stiles. Or accidentally start a pack war with Stiles. Whatever. The point is, Lydia has a plan.

    Summary

A Modern day Merlin AU set at the University of St Andrews, featuring teetotal kickboxers, secret wizards, magnificent bodyguards of various genders, irate fairies, imprisoned dragons, crumbling gothic architecture, arrogant princes, adorable engineering students, stolen gold, magical doorways, attempted assassination, drunken students, shaving foam fights, embarrassing mornings after, The Hammer Dance, duty, responsibility, friendship and true love...

This story was inspired by the thought of Prince William of Wales (and indeed the current Max von Hapsburg) studying at the University of St Andrews; it is also, as the title suggests, at least a little inspired by the operetta 'The Student Prince'.

Grateful thanks to Lamardeuse and DarkEmeralds for Beta and cheerleading!

Adorable and charming and like reading one of those hug-and-jump-up-and-downs while smiling crazily.

Surely a scene Montgomery forgot to write. Like a bite of chocolate, but "wholesomer".

This was perfection. Of course Ed knows better than to think Spike is dead, and can solve little problems like crime syndicates and meteor showers. The episode we didn't get to see.

    Summary

“There is no years where you and Derek are concerned,” mercifully, Erica is jabbing her keys into the ignition. “There's no time passed. It's like the second you're in the same room again, it's – it's just here we go again.

When Derek and Stiles even so much as glance at each other, it doesn't matter how long it's been. It could be centuries since they'd seen each other last, but as soon as the eye contact was made, it'd feel like minutes. Like Derek just left the room for a second instead of vanished off the face of the planet.

“Not this time,” Stiles affirms with a head nod. “And never again. There's this thing called lesson learned – you know? Took a few tries, but I think the formula's finally stuck there in my brain.” Derek shows back up (because he's always the one who leaves), and Stiles listens to his friends yell at him for days, and then Derek and Stiles run into each other, and it all adds up to one gigantic fuckery that Stiles tells himself he regrets but maybe he...doesn't.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Beautifully written, and excellently in character, this un-Christmassy Christmas story feels extremely realistic, inasmuch as a story about a guy with a come here/go away boyfriend who happens to be a werewolf can be. Light on romance, long on the sort of coming of age most of us struggle with: working a dead-end job, being trapped in your hometown, loving your friends while simultaneously wanting to strangle them. In many ways, this is what a successful season six of Buffy might have looked like. The Big Bad could have been played by tiny SMG herself, even. :) With engaging teamy-ness, thoughtful meditations on how things affect people other than Stiles and fight scenes that are somehow visceral, harrowing and hilarious at once (oh, that vest). (She does sort of wander off a bit/seems unsure of the severity of the injuries Stiles receives - pretty sure he has a cast at one point, but it's never mentioned again, even though it would make a lot of day to day things v. awkward, even assuming he's not also actually missing a chunk of muscle in his leg - and is nobody having Christmas with the Sherriff??? - but these are v. minor quibbles, and I am nitpicking for sure.)
