Effectively a gratuitous reason to write a really soppy kiss scene for Dirk and Jake.

It’s sort of become a tradition that every time Dave comes to visit you, the first thing he gets (well, technically second after a bone-crushing hug) is an extensive run-down of all the exciting stuff you’ve got planned, including but not limited to the predictable movie fests and sloppy makeouts. He’s tired, after a day spent waiting around the airport for a pretty short flight, but you’ve got so much you want to do with him and he may be tired but he’s just as excited, because it’s been too long, far too long, since you’ve last seen each other in person.
